Monthly NEWSLETTER of Camp Lebanon June 2015 (800) 816-1502 www.camplebaon.org MINISTRIES REPORT Bring on the Kids….Bring on the Summer! BARN RAISING PARTY BLESSINGS! There are four sure signs of summer’s arrival. One, toes no longer turn blue when dipped into Cedar Lake. Two, the blood pressure of staff members increases as the scramble to get ready overfills the days. Three, the deep, abundant laughter of our 43 exhuberant summer staff fills the air as they work through 10 days of training. But the surest of all signs? More and more kids sign up as the first session nears. And what a fun time that’s going to be with 160 or more kids expected for Super Kids 1! Spring was an adventure! After a very full month of quilting (25 out of 31 days in March!), April witnessed an inspiring Men’s Advance (66 men!) and Camp’s biggest ever Mother-Daughter (163 moms, grandmothers, girls, and staff). May opened with a super-fun and a super-sunny Father-Son (100 guests) and the amazing “Barn Raising Party” on the North 40. Next up was the Young at Heart Retreat (28 guests) and the annual Spring Senior Day (200 on site!). Then came Memorial Weekend Family Camp…and soon summer! Hang on! We’re in for a thrilling ride. The activities are awesome – all the choices are great. Also love the chapels and teaching. Keep up the great work!” “It’s the highlight of our year!” “This place is a blessing for us to spend time with immediate and extended family in a relaxed and godly atmosphere.” SCHOLARSHIPS MAKE CAMP LEBANON AFFORDABLE FOR ALL! Thanks to the generosity of many friends, including the Peace-Shaloam Foundation and contributors to Camp’s Endowment Fund, we are able to invite all kids and families to Camp Lebeanon regardless of their ability pay. In 2014, $29,938 in grants were awarded. We expect this total to be higher in 2015. Families needing assistance should contact the Camp office at 1.800.816.1502. Thee weather was perfect. The work force was large (30+ volunteers), gifted (many carpenters), and well supported with equipment (donated or discounted) and “profressional grunts.” And the fellowshiup was a treat with laughter in abundance and unity throughout the site. Beginning with an advance crew on Thursday, April 30 and continuing into Sunday afternoon, May 3, the “Barn Raising” effort finished with 85% of the shell framed in and excitement growing for what this new building is going to mean to Camp Lebanon going forward.
