4/17/2015 – Updated Information *** Any questions regarding any scholarship information please see Ms. Flores, in the school counseling office. *** *** Scholarship Applications are available in the Forest Park High School Career Center and Online. *** Christopher Cummings Memorial Scholarship This scholarship is to be awarded to the student(s) who best exemplifies both community service and interest in attending a 4-year college/university the fall semester immediately following graduation from high school. This scholarship will be: $1,000 to be applied toward tuition to an accredited 4-year college/university. Awarded to a student who is a well-rounded individual with community service and school involvement. Qualified applicants should meet the following criteria: Be a graduating senior with a minimum 2.8 overall GPA from either Forest Park High School or Potomac High School. Must include an official high school transcript. Plan to attend an accredited 4-year college or university in the fall following graduation. Demonstrate voluntary service to the local community (Prince William County or the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area) Submit three letters of recommendation from adults (excluding immediate family members or other relatives) who can validate the applicant’s commitment to the community, interest in further education, and/or good character. One letter must be from a school staff member. The scholarship will be paid directly to the college to cover tuition. Applicants will also submit an essay - “What Dale City means to me and how it has helped Me.", participation in extracurricular activities, and personal interview. Rowan Chapter – Blacks in Government - Evangeline J. Montgomery Scholarship Applicants must be high school students who will be graduating in the Spring 2015 semester Interested applicants are to submit a completed scholarship application form, a written essay of 250-500 words, an official high school transcript (2.75 or better GPA), a completed certification of academic standing, a letter of 2 recommendation (no more than 2), and a recent color photograph. Hampton Foundation Scholarship 2015 The foundation will provide scholarships to deserving high school seniors attending public high schools in prince William County, Stafford County, Manassas, and Manassas Park The foundation will award six (6) scholarships to students in our community to high school seniors attending a four-year university and two (2) scholarships to seniors attending a junior or community college in the fall semester. These are one year scholarships. Performing Arts do not qualify. The scholarships are awarded to students who have exemplified excellence through their school work and work in the community. Application Deadline: May 30,2015 University of Virginia – Scholarship Opportunities – University Achievement Award Scholarship program is designed to attract exceptional in-state students to U.VA. This scholarship is designed to attract students of diversity who will add to the diversity of the University community. The award will be covering full tuition for four years. All in-state applicants will automatically be considered for this award. The most competitive applicants will demonstrate through the UVA supplement of the common application that they have special talents, unique personal characteristics, and/or pressing needs which will assist UVA with the objective of recruit and retain a diverse student body. Academic merit, leadership, service, and citizenship are primary considerations. Students must also satisfy at least two of the following conditions: have a history of overcoming disadvantage, be a first generation college student, be a member of an underrepresented minority or ethnic group, be a member of low-income family, reside in a rural or inner-city location, have been raised in a single parent household University of Virginia – Scholarship Opportunities – Walter N. Ridley Scholarship 4 The Black Alumni Association sponsors several scholarships designed to support African American students coming to the University of Virginia. The program includes: one $4,000 scholarship, two $1,000 scholarships, and ten $500 scholarships Quick and easy to apply all that needs to be done is - simply log onto www.student-view.com and complete a 15-20 minute application survey about colleges in your area. Scholarship Deadline: April 22, 2015 (winner will be announced in May 2015) Virginia Sheriff’s Institute Scholarship Program Scholarship provides young people across the state of Virginia with financial assistance in their pursuit of an educational curriculum in the criminal justice field.
