What They Do
Expectations
The Seven Oaks Project is just one of the many education and career development projects
designed and run by Career Trek Inc.
Participants spend one night a week for 12 weeks
(Feb. to May) visiting the University of Manitoba,
The University of Winnipeg, and Red River College.
Led by university or college students, they spend
two hours an evening getting hands-on
experiences in a wide variety of occupations.
For the project to be successful, students and
their families need to be committed. Students are
expected to maintain excellent attendance, actively
engage in lessons, and contribute to a positive
learning environment.
Delivered in association with the Seven Oaks
School Division, this after-school project exposes
participants in grades 5 and 6 to as many
occupations and professions as possible.
60 participants from Elwick School, O.V. Jewitt
School, and École Leila North receive hands-on
experiences in approximately 24 occupations and
professions.
The project is infused with a career development
focus that helps participants discover and
explore their likes, dislikes, and skills helping
them understand the relevance of their studies,
grasp educational opportunities, and chart their
future career paths.
The Seven Oaks Project helps children learn
about themselves and develop the essential skills
necessary for success in the competitive job market
