Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology (CBIT) CBIT is one of the

Chaitanya Bharathi Institute
of Technology (CBIT)
CBIT is one of the premier engineering colleges for
imparting engineering education in the state. This is a
first self-financed engineering college, established in
1979 in Hyderabad with a prime motto to shape young,
innovative and creative engineers in building the
Nation's Human Resource Capital. The college offers
Nine UG and Eleven PG courses. It has been accredited
by NBA (AICTE) and NAAC (UGC). This institute is
also certified by ISO 9001:2008. Autonomous status was
granted by UGC from the academic year 2013-14. The
grants received from AICTE/UGC are worth about
Rs.2.0 crores. The Institute has signed MOU with State
Project Facilitation Unit (SPFU), Technical Education
Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP-II) Hyderabad.
The objectives of the TEQIP project are strengthening
institutions to produce high quality engineers for better
employability, Scaling-up PG education, DemandDriven Research and development and innovation,
Establishing centers of excellence for focused applicable
research, training of faculty for effective teaching and
enhancing institutional and system management
effectiveness.
Department of Electronics and
Communication Engineering (ECE)
The department of ECE was established in 1979. The
department offers Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in ECE.
This is accredited by NBA (AICTE). Also offers two
Master of Engineering (ME) programs with
Communication Engineering and Embedded Systems &
VLSI Design as specializations. The department has
highly qualified and experienced faculty. The department
has good infrastructural facilities and eleven full-fledged
laboratories equipped with adequate hardware and
software.
About the course
The faculty is active in R&D and publishing papers in
International / National Journals and Conferences. The
department has successfully completed projects from
AICTE and GE. Presently the department is executing
projects that are sponsored by AICTE (New Delhi), DST
(New Delhi), and RCI (DRDO). So far this department
organized 32 technical programs including Faculty
development program (FDP) and National Seminar (NS)
sponsored by AICTE. The Dept. is recognized as a
Research Center by Osmania University, Hyderabad.
Research Center Imarat (RCI)
Research Centre Imarat has been established in a
sprawling Campus of 2100 acres, in Hyderabad. Dr. APJ
Abdul Kalam is the founder Director of RCI. This
laboratory has been established to design and develop
world class, state of the art avionics technologies which
will produce precise and reliable indigenous systems to
strengthen country’s defence needs.
Technical complex has been constructed in about 1100
acres of land. RCI is considered as ‘Avionics Hub’ of
DRDO. It is one of the three DRDO Labs of ‘Missile
Complex’. It houses different work centers, integration
and testing facilities. It has been actively engaged in the
development of critical technologies such as Control
Systems, Inertial Sensors and Systems, On-board Mission
computers, Seekers, Flight Instrumentation and Power
Supplies for tactical and strategic missiles. RCI has been
the leader in design and development of high precision,
reliable and ruggedized Avionics systems for meeting the
requirements of different users. RCI has got extensive test
facilities for Antennas, RF and IIR Seekers, Inertial
Sensors and Systems calibration, Hardware In Loop
Simulation (HILS) for entire Avionics for various
Missiles etc.
The advancements in VLSI technology has spurred the
development of high performance, smaller, faster and
low power special purpose processors called Embedded
processors. The architecture of these processors is
modified to meet the real time constraints. The
embedded processors may be either microcomputer
based or DSP processor based. The applications of these
processors include consumer electronics, industrial,
automotive, military, communications, medical etc.
In view of several applications, it becomes necessary
for today's practicing engineers or students to master not
only the theory of DSP but also the skill of real time
DSP system design and implementation techniques
using the embedded processors.
This course is mainly concentrated on the study of the
architecture of DSP processors and embedded
processors with an emphasis on TI processors.
Applications of these processors in military and
consumer electronics will be discussed.
