My Dear Parents and Students,
Easter Revolution
EASTER DAY is a proclamation of a revolution. He who rose from the dead on Easter
Sunday never said anything again Roman imperialism, nor against slavery, nor capitalism,
nor even against armaments.
But HE said everything against the man who draws his sword in hate and who lays up
treasures which rust consumes, moths eat, and thieves steal. His resolution was HE left
Pilate on his judgment seat, Herod with his court, Roman soldiers on the streets, Caesar’s
money on the counting tables, and chose 12 men whom He remade in His spirit and sent
them out to conquer the world.
Easter Day became then what is must become now; the revolution of man rather than
that of institutions. In order to reform the world we must reform man.
On this Easter day we must decide whether we shall have the spirit of revolution or the
revolution of the spirit; whether we shall use violence against our neighbour, or violence
against hatred of our neighbour.
The revolutions of which we read daily in our newspapers are easy. It is easy to topple
thrones, upset palaces, and dethrone rulers; but to bomb our selfishness, to upset our
pride, and to dethrone our egotism, - that takes the courage of a man modeled upon HIM
who rose from the dead by the power of God. (Author unknown)
THE STAFF AND ADMINISTRATION WOULD LIKE TO WISH THE PARENTS AND
STUDENTS OF THE CARTER COMMUNITY A VERY HAPPY AND HOLY EASTER.
LORD MAKE US EASTER PEOPLE.

Athletes Update
Athletics Update
We have had a good winter sports season this
year. Our senior boys basketball team (coached
by Mr. Samuel) finished with a Tier 2 Silver Medal,
our senior girls volleyball team (coached by Ms.
Morale) finished with a Tier 2 top 8 finish, our Nordic
Ski Team (coached by Mr. Callaghan) captured the
Junior Boys and Overall Title and were led by Finn
Dodgson's silver medal at OFSAA. We had two
swimmers qualify for OFSAA Damiano Panetta &
Charles Choi (coached by Mr. D'Ardis and Mrs.
Lambropoulos), our varsity boys hockey team
(coached by Mr. Dajia, Mr. Cherubini, and Mr.Sidoti)
played well in Tier 2, and our ski/snowboard team
had a high participation rate (coached by Ms. Mayr).
It's great to see all these athletes excel and have an
opportunity to represent our Celtic Pride ... thanks
to all the coaches who continue to work year after
year with our student-athletes.
22 students from grades 9-12 committed their time
energy to this year’s Varsity Basketball Team
coached by Mr. Samuel, and Carter alumni Donato
DiPietro and Neil Rances. The team finished
with a regular season record of 8-0, and 15-3
overall, finishing second place in the YRAA
Tier 2 Championships. A special thank you goes
out to our graduating players Fredric Maano,
Tino Orrino, Kai Tran, and captains Adrian Brodie
and Terique Crawford for your commitment to
athletics and your leadership. You took our
school on an incredible journey, filling the season
with unbelievable highlights and long lasting
memories. You have undoubtedly left your mark
in Cardinal Carter history. Your shoes will be hard
to fill, but the upcoming balanced mix of youth
and veteran leadership has us all anxious for
next year’s basketball season to start. On behalf
of the entire team, we would like to thank our
incredible super fans, comprised of staff, students
and alumni. Your energy was infectious and
every game you showed we have the best fans out
there. C-BLOCK!

Community Awareness Bulletin
A Service Dog has been placed with a family in your community. This dog will be working with a child who has special needs, and it is
important to create public awareness to help the Service Dog integrate into the community.
The Service Dog will be easily identifiable by the purple working vest that he wears.
If you see the Service Dog wearing his purple working vest, please remember that he is a special working dog and not a pet.
Please help the Service Dog by not distracting him. Remember… DO NOT:
TOUCH the Service Dog
-
TALK to the Service Dog
STARE at the Service Dog
-
TEASE the Service Dog with Food or Toys
The Service Dog has been trained and provided to the child by National Service Dogs, a non-profit Registered Charity that specializes in
breeding, training and placing Labrador and Golden Retrievers with children that have special needs.
The Service Dog is allowed full public access, and follows ADI’s (Assistance Dogs
International) Standards for Public Access Testing.
If you would like to make a donation to help sponsor a family on National Service Dogs’ waiting list, or if you want any additional information, please visit our web site www.nsd.on.ca .
You may contact us directly at 519-623-4188. Thank you for your co-operation
and support.

Lent: A Time of Prayer, Fasting & Almsgiving
During the weeks of Lent, we are called to prepare
for our journey with Jesus by praying, fasting and
almsgiving, thus allowing ourselves to be open to the
presence of God in our lives. Our Lenten journey began
on Ash Wednesday, with a prayer service in the chapel,
followed by the distribution of the ashes in each
homeroom class.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation also took place at
Carter in the chapel on March 11th with Father Joseph
Pham from Our Lady of Grace Parish and Father Peter
Lackmanec from Our Lady of Annunciation in Richmond
Hill
We eagerly look forward to Easter. Of course, Easter
isn't just one day. In the Church's calendar, the Easter
Season will last for fifty days until Pentecost which is
celebrated on May 24th this year. Ordinary Time
resumes on the following Monday.
As we continue to celebrate the Season of Lent, let us
tell one another this good news by putting our kind
words into loving action and trusting in Jesus by letting
Him guide our decisions in every area of our lives.

in the world, our schools, our homes, and in our hearts.
On May 7th, Cardinal Carter staff and students, along
with other Catholic schools from across the province,
will celebrate a province-wide mass, an initiative by the
Ontario Catholic School Trustees' Association.
Other Chaplaincy events that we look forward to in the
next few months are: Grade 10 retreats which will take
place on May 1st and the Grade 12 Retreats which
will also take place sometime in May. For their retreat,
grade 12s will take part in a “Sandwich Run” with the

Grace Cantarutti—Guidance Department Head
Moderns Department
The Moderns department has had a
dynamic start to semester two with
various excursions and activities
that have taken place. Many others
are being planned for the Spring.
On Febrary 8 to 11, a group of
Carter students travelled to St.
Donat, Québec, to be immersed in
the French culture and language.
Activites included, not only daily
skiing or snowboarding in the
majestic Laurentian Mountains,
but, talent shows, music recording
workshops, moonlight snowshoeing
and the general practice of “la joie de
vivre” all “en francais!”.
The week of Feb. 17-20th was French
Week at Cardinal Carter and the
school participated in a week's worth
of fun events. Morning exercises and
prayers were conducted in French
and the students learned some French
Fun Facts. The week culminated in
our annual French Cafe where students could enjoy French desserts
including crepes and hot chocolate.
We are currently planning an
excursion for Grade 9 students
to view a French film, and the
participation in a cultural, music
and dance workshop conducted in
French for Grade 10's.
