As part of our mission and vision to advance the ongoing education and training of both the board-certified case manager and the professional case manager through certification, renewal and continuing education, the Commission will host its first national conference, CCMC New World Symposium. This three-day event will focus on education, with the goal of building community while advocating for workforce readiness, professional excellence, ethical standards and evidence-based best practices in case management. At this event, the Commission is inviting all membership, education and certification organizations supporting case management practice to collaborate in this movement to nurture and grow a reliable, well-prepared professional case management workforce. The conference is an extension of the Commission’s CMLearning Network®, which is our learning hub and network for education and information about the current and future practice of high-quality, patient-centered case management services. WHO SHOULD ATTEND? This meeting is designed for all allied health professionals across all practice settings who are interested in issues related to the practice of case management. WHY IS THE COMMISSION HOSTING THE SYMPOSIUM? Care Coordination and Care Transitions There is a significant challenge in health care today: A growing need for care coordination, care transition and related care/case management services, and a shrinking number of professionals ready to take on the role of case manager to step into this gap. Workforce Development Tools - Resources - Expert Knowledge The Commission acknowledges the reality of this “perfect storm”-- the intersection of the growing demand for professional case managers with the shrinking and aging supply of qualified, knowledgeable case managers. It is in the interest of all case management related organizations to address this in a proactive fashion. The Commission recognizes these challenges are significant and require a unified effort by multiple organizations.
