APRIL 11-13 Georgia International Convention Center Kellie Nuss Kellie is a self-taught knitter with a keen interest in the success of her students. A proud knitting ‘geek,’ she loves to teach the principles and practices that are the foundation to every knitting technique and that allow any knitter to become confident enough to try anything they want. She is from Maryland and has been teaching professionally for 17 years. Kellie goes by kellamina on Ravelry.com and blogs at thesamestitch.com. Friday 10:30am - 11:30am NEW TT17 Magic Twist-Knit With simple knitting and a flip of the work, you can create pieces that look like dramatic cables. We will make a bracelet that shows the technique, and students will receive a pattern for a scarf. Materials: 20 or 30 yards of #4 (worsted-weight) yarn and needles appropriate for that yarn. Key: NEW Sessions Highlighted In Yellow Essential Skills: Learn the next steps. Crochet Sessions CLASS COLOR CODES TT2 Continental Knitting Continental knitting involves tensioning the yarn in the hand holding the unworked stitches (for most people this is the left hand) and using the other needle to pick stitches through in a quick and efficient manner. It is a great technique to have in your knitting repetoire. It can solve a multitude of knitting problems or just be a good companion to the way you already knit. Your instructor will teach the basics of tensioning the yarn and picking the stitches rather than throwing. We will learn the knit and purl stitches and have time to practice and discuss how to transition to this useful method of knitting. Materials: Any yarn and appropriate needles for sampling. The work is never turned, and the knitter cleverly works both knit and purl stitches from the same side. This saves time when working on a very small number of stitches as for bobbles or entrelac, and it saves effort when working on a very large number of stitches. Your instructor will teach the basics of working knit and purl stitches from the right side of the work. There is time for practice and a discussion of how to use this technique in your every-day knitting. Materials: Any yarn and appropriate needles for sampling. STITCH PATTERNS & TEXTURES Friday 3:30pm - 4:30pm or Saturday 12:30pm - 1:30pm XT Double Knit in Color Double knitting in color creates a two-sided, double-thick fabric with an image on one side and the exact negative of the image on the other side.
