Cutting / Preparation ( 1 ) Fuse the neckline interfacings to the facing fabric according to the instructions given by the manufacturer. Choose your size and copy the pattern onto pattern tracing paper. Tissue paper for copying patterns can be found in fabric and notions stores. Place the pattern pieces onto the fabric, the marked sides showing up. Consider the cutting plan below. Cut all pieces! Please Note: A sewing allowance has already been included into the pattern! Unless otherwise noted the sewing allowance measures 1cm. A seam allowance is marked in the pattern. Copy all marks from the pattern pieces to the left side of the fabric pieces using dressmaker’s carbon and a tracing wheel. Cutting Plan Sewing Pattern Blouse Sophie The fabric is laid out on the fold. Right sides facing each other. The pattern pieces are placed and pinned onto the fabric with the marked sides showing up. Neaten the edges with a zigzag-stitch and press seams towards the back. ( 4 ) Insert the sleeves: pin the sleeves to the scye right sides facing each other. Make sure to consider the marks for the front, shoulder and back! Sew, neaten the edges with a zigzag-stitch and press seam towards the scye. ( 5 ) Gather the sleeves to fit the length of the cuffs. To gather the sleeves set your machine to a really wide straight stitch width. Then sew two lines of gathering stitches at an interval of about 0,5cm. Do not backstitch and leave a couple of cm of thread free on both sides. Now gently pull the bobbin thread and adjust the length. ( 6 ) Fold the cuffs in half right sides facing and stitch along the short edges to form a ring. Neaten the seams with a zigzag-stitch and press the seams towards the back. ( 7 ) Fold the cuffs in half lengthwise and press. Open the cuffs up again. fold 2 ( 2 ) Close the sleeve seams by placing the edges right sides together and stitching along the edge. Make sure that the sleeve hems and the cuffs have the same circumference. Sew and neaten the edges by using a zigzag-stitch. Do not press! fusible interfacing: 5: neckline facing, front – cut 1 on the fold 6: neckline facing, back – cut 1 on the fold ( 12 ) Fold the neckline facing right sides out (thus fold in) and press the neckline well. Neaten the bottom edge of the facing with a zigzag-stitch. Topstitch the neckline at about 3 cm from the upper edge. ( 9 ) Neaten the bottom edge of the cuffs with a zigzag-stitch and fold along the crease. Sew carefully into the seamline when stitching inner cuff to the sleeve. ( 10 ) Place the front and back neckline facings right sides together and close shoulder seams. Neaten the seams with a zigzag-stitch and press the seams towards the back. ( 11 ) Pin the facing to the neckline right sides together, make sure that he shoulder seams, the front and back middle match up nicely. Sew. Clip sewing allowance where needed. ( 13 ) Place the front and back hem facings right sides together and close the side seams. Neaten the seams with a zigzag-stitch and press the seams towards the back. ( 14 ) Pin the hem facing to the shirt hem right sides together, make sure that he side seams, the front and back middle match up nicely. Sew. Clip sewing allowance where needed. ( 15 ) Fold the hem facing right sides out (this fold in) and press the hem well. Neaten the bottom edge of the facing with a zigzag-stitch. Topstitch the hemline at about 3 cm from the bottom edge.
