About Rock in Rio
With 30 years of history, Rock in Rio is the largest music and entertainment event in the world
for several reasons. From its 14 previous editions, five took place in Brazil (1985, 1991, 2001,
2011 and 2013), six in Portugal (2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014) and three in Spain
(2008, 2010 and 2012). In May 2015, Rock in Rio will hit Las Vegas, in the US, for the first time.
In September, the sixth edition will take place in the City of Rock (Cidade do Rock), in Brazil.
Combining all past editions, over 7.5 million people already attended the event. Another
number that is constantly growing is within the festival's official social networks: just to let you
know, Rock in Rio is breaking records with more than 11 million followers. Speaking about
performances, combining the Brazilian, Portuguese and Spanish editions, more than 1,274
musical acts performed on the Rock in Rio stages, with a total of 1,200 hours of music,
broadcasted to more than 1 billion viewers worldwide, through TV and the Internet.
Over the years, more than US$ 530 million were invested in the brand. In addition, more than
US$ 23.2 million were invested in social and environmental projects. More than audience
ratings and significant investments, Rock in Rio has helped the economy of the places visited:
more than 148 thousand jobs were created over the last 30 years. In Spain, the festival has
become top of mind, overcoming the Formula 1 demand. In the 2013 edition, 46% of the Rock
in Rio audience was from outside of Rio de Janeiro. The economic impact of the 2013 edition,
published by Riotur, was of R$ 1 billion (more than U$ 300 million), also stating that hotels
