During National Volunteer Month, Greater Tosa Interfaith would
like to thank Christ King for your participation in our program
this past year. Helping our frail older neighbors is such an important ministry. We appreciate your ongoing financial support
as we try to keep our frail older neighbors connected to a caring
community.
St. Vincent de Paul Clothing Drive
In addition, we thank you for the volunteers who provided so
much help to our elderly friends. I would especially like to thank
the volunteers from your congregation who served Greater Tosa
Interfaith during the past year:
Saturday, May 16th
St. Vincent de Paul dedicated his life to serving the poor and
needy people of his time. Let us imitate his goodness by sharing
our clothes and bedding with those in need this season. Holy
Spirit guide our hearts and our hands as we choose what to share.
Our spring clothing drive to help those in need in our community
is scheduled for Saturday, May 16th, from 10:00 AM until 1:00
PM in the South Hall. We would appreciate spring and summer
clothing at this time. You may also donate accessories (purses,
shoes, belts, etc.) baby and children’s clothing; blankets; kitchen
items; linens (sheets, towels, curtains, tablecloths, etc.) and small
working appliances. Please
bring only clean, wearable and
usable items. If you can't get to
the drive on the 16th and would
like a pick-up, please contact
Steve Obscherning at 414-5599146 by May 13th to arrange
one. The less fortunate in our
greater community truly benefit
from this drive, and we thank
you for your caring and continued generosity.
This is a Human Concerns
Sponsored Activity.

Blanche Kafka has been enrolled in the Christ King Mass League

Involvement in Committees
Monday, April 13 is our next Common Meeting Night, starting at 6:30 p.m. in church and wrapping up around 8:15 p.m. If
you have any interest in one of our five standing committees of pastoral council (Worship, Stewardship, School, Hospitality,
Human Concerns) this is the night where you are welcome to really just take a look around and kick the tires. Help is needed
in all of these committees for the next pastoral year of 2015-2016. No commitment is required if you come Monday.
Safe Environment Week
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. While safeguarding all of God’s children is an integrated part of the culture of the
Archdiocese of Milwaukee now, the month of April is set aside to focus once again on the importance of keeping children
and youth safe, not only in Church environments, but at home and school as well. April 12-18 is safe environment week in
the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.
This is a time to remind us of the exemplary strides the Church has made in safe environment training, now looked upon as
the standard bearer when it comes to protecting children from abuse. Check out www.archmil.org for more information both
on what the Church presently does, as well as resources for making a report if that becomes necessary.
If you or someone you know was abused as a minor by church personnel and is now an adult, the Victim Assistance Coordinator is available to obtain support and make a formal complaint of abuse to the diocese. The Victim Assistance Coordinator can be reached at 414-758-2232. To make a formal report outside of the Archdiocese, you may contact the Healing Center at 414-671-4325 or contact the civil authorities. If the abused person is currently under 18 years of age (minor) please
report to the civil authorities.
If you ever have questions about how the Church now handles interactions with minors, I’m happy to chat.
See you at Mass,
Fr. Phillip
Auction items
Just a reminder from the Parish Office and the Christ King Auction Committee that we have many wonderful auction items still waiting to be claimed. Please stop by the rectory during business hours (Mon–Fri, 8:30 am-9:00
pm) to collect your auction winnings! Feel free to call 258-2604 with any questions. Thank you.
Simply the word
Simply the WORD Catholic Scripture Study
What are you doing about your call to live as Jesus’ disciple?
Do you know what you should be doing about your call to live as Jesus’ disciple?
Simply the WORD is offering a four-week Scripture study in which we will learn about Jesus’ call to discipleship, and how it applies to each of us. In this short study, entitled Jesus’ Disciple—Me, Myself, and I, we will explore Jesus’ discipleship call as explained
in the Gospel of St. Luke.
The dates for our Discipleship Study are Thursday April 16, 23, 30, and May 7.
Simply the WORD’s morning session meets Thursday mornings from 9:15-11:00 am, and our evening session is from 6:30-8:15pm.
We meet in the Christ King Parish Center 2604 N. Swan Blvd., Wauwatosa (enter on 91st street through the double white doors north
of the Church). Newcomers are welcome to join us for this short exploration of Jesus’ call to be His disciple.
To register, or for more information, contact Cindy Schmidt schmidtcynthiaa@gmail.com or 414.476.2413 (current Simply the WORD
participants need not re-register).

We need between 15 – 25 volunteers on both
nights to help build food stock boxes for seniors.
This is for 12 and over and must be able to lift 30
pounds. I will be contacting those families that
signed up in the fall. Please call or email me if
you are interested in helping us for this event.

House Calls
We’d be happy to do so. There are a number of

communion. If you or a family member or
neighbor would like to arrange for a house call,
please call the Rectory at 258-2604.

Becoming Catholic….
Have you ever thought about taking the next step? Perhaps you
have never been part of a Christian community or never been
baptized, but now you have felt drawn to begin this journey of
faith in Jesus Christ. Perhaps you’ve been baptized and raised in
another Christian tradition, but now you want to continue your
life of faith in the Catholic Church ... or at least explore what that
means. If either of these describes you, we would very much
like to hear from you. We want to listen to your story of faith or
non-faith, answer your questions, and share with you the beauty,
truth, and wonder of the Catholic faith. If you want to know
more, please contact the Parish Office at 414-258-2604.
