RECRUITING FOR CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
The Board of Directors of the Newfoundland and Labrador Division of CMHA is recruiting for a Chief
Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organization at a time when mental health is recognized as one of
the major socio-economic issues facing the province. The Division’s CEO is expected to keep the topic in
the forefront of the public while managing a vibrant organization that has to compete for scarce public
and community resources to implement its strategic plan. A key role for the CEO is to establish
collaborative relationships with a wide range of community and government agencies to ensure the
Division’s ongoing success.
Our next CEO will be an outstanding communicator and a person who excels in relationship building,
advocacy, media relations, fund development and leading people to help them perform to their highest
potential. S/he will manage an annual budget of approximately $1 million, 11 staff, and a varying
number of volunteers, as well as oversee operations of the provincial office based in St. John’s and two
regional offices: Grand Falls-Windsor and Stephenville.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following combination of skills, qualifications and experience:











Community development, social work, and/or not-for-profit administration
Familiarity with mental health and current related issues
Advocacy
Media relations
Strategic planning
Proposal development and grant writing
Fund and/or business development
Policy and program development and implementation
Managing people, finances, programs and services
Board relations
Educational attainment at the Master degree level
