Torchbearer Ceremony
This well-loved tradition is over 50 years old and the tradition at Farnsworth Weekend. Torches are given each
year to honor those adults in our council who have been instrumental in promoting outdoor programming for
girls. Each torch is made of a different type of wood symbolizing the person’s personality and talent. Join us at
the campfire on Saturday night to honor the newly selected Torchbearers.
SWAPS
Keepsakes for Girl Scouts
SWAPS, the tradition of Girl Scouts exchanging keepsakes, started long ago when Girl Scouts and Girl Guides
first gathered for fun, song, and making new friends. SWAPS stand for Special Whatchamacallits Affectionately
Pinned Somewhere. SWAPS are still the perfect way for Girl Scouts to meet each other and promote friendship.
Feel free to bring SWAPS to exchange with others.
