Larry’s voice has been heard regularly over the years on radio ads for Sun Valley Resort. A Sun Valley transplant to Boise resident since 2003, Larry is proud to be a part of the fundraising efforts for Bishop Kelly tonight! Dear Bishop Kelly Friends and Family, Thank you for attending the Bishop Kelly Foundation’s 36th Winner’s Choice Auction. Let’s enjoy our “Knight on the Town” with family and friends in support of Idaho’s only Catholic high school. Whether you are new to the school, or an old alumni (like me, Class of ‘77), BK parent or past parent, faculty or staff, the Bishop Kelly family relationships you form will last a lifetime. Your generosity tonight is important to Bishop Kelly’s long-term viability and continued strong presence in the Boise community. It takes all our help to allow Bishop Kelly to develop our students’ minds, souls, and bodies and unleash their potential. Tuition, diocesan and parish support, and the Bishop Kelly Foundation gifts make up the financial support necessary for the benefit of ALL our students here at Bishop Kelly. The Foundation’s goal of “Providing Funding, Support and Scholarships” is critical in allowing Bishop Kelly to continue providing one of the lowest-priced Catholic educations in the Welcome to this evening’s 36th Annual Winner’s Choice Dinner and Auction, “A Knight on the Town”. This event has developed into one of the finest in the Treasure Valley to benefit Bishop Kelly High School. With all great traditions, they are created with a compelling tale and great vision; tonight, we are witnesses to another chapter in our great history. Tonight’s story is about the incredible generosity and community support that allows Bishop Kelly High School to continue to build its mission: educating and developing the whole student in the Catholic tradition – Spirit, Mind and Body. Since the very first “Cadillac Auction” in 1976, this event has provided much-needed financial support for the ongoing expenses at Bishop Kelly High School. It is critical, not only in assisting the school in maintaining and devel- Northwest. The Foundation provided over $690,000 this year as a gift to the school’s budget and to fund financial aid to those families who would not otherwise be able to attend. This is where we play a crucial part. Through your generosity tonight, the funds raised provide over 35% of the Foundation’s gift to the school. Celebrate “A Knight on the Town” with the Bishop Kelly Family, appreciate the accomplishments of our students, and be grateful to the teachers who make such a difference in the lives of our young people. Thank you in advance for your friendship and generosity to the Bishop Kelly Foundation. Your support will continue to provide the much-needed resources for Bishop Kelly for many generations to come. Sincerely, Tim M. LaMott President, Bishop Kelly Foundation oping new educational programs and facilities, but in making the Bishop Kelly experience financially possible for so many of our students. Thank you for believing in our important mission. More importantly, thank you for believing in our future – our young people. Your involvement tonight and throughout the year is a tribute to our school community, students – faculty and staff. Because of you, we will continue to build on our fine traditions for generations to come at Bishop Kelly in making our collective story so special for our entire community. Sincerely, Robert R. Wehde Principal, Bishop Kelly High School 3 Dear Friends of Bishop Kelly, It is my pleasure to welcome each of you to the Bishop Kelly Foundation Winner’s Choice Dinner and Auction. Your presence here tonight is a true testament to the fact that, collectively, we can make a tremendous difference in the lives of the young men and women who choose to attend Bishop Kelly High School. While 2012 has continued to be a difficult one for many in the Treasure Valley, we have been blessed here at Bishop Kelly by the commitment and generosity of our many friends in the community. Your support tonight, as well as your support of the Foundation both directly and through the Capital Campaign, has helped us in two ways. First of all, the Foundation was able to provide a $438,000 grant to our general operating budget. It enables us to keep our tuition significantly lower than it otherwise would be and the lowest among Catholic high schools in the Northwest. Secondly, the Foundation’s additional grant for scholarships of over $250,000 allowed us to provide need-based financial aid to over 150 students and families who might not have otherwise been able to attend Bishop Kelly. For those of us who believe in the value of a Bishop Kelly education, your dedication allowed us to provide this wonderful gift to those families. Highlights of the 2011/2012 school year were: Class of 2012 had 98% go on to college, 80% of them received nearly $14 million in meritbased scholarships, their SAT and ACT scores were in the top 10% nationally, they contributed over 15,000 hours of community service and won 8 state championships and 6 academic state championships. We begin this 2012/2013 school year with a 4% increase in enrollment to 682 students, highlighted by a freshman class of 190, and a healthy financial situation. To keep our class sizes small, we added seven new excellent faculty members to our already outstanding faculty and staff. Construction of our new Student Commons, the capstone of our school renovation, was completed in February 2012 and dedicated in March. School spirit and sense of community are high. But we have lots more to do. To achieve our vision of “a Catholic community achieving excellence in learning, service, and life”, we must get better in every area of our school - in Curriculum, Learning and Spiritual Environments, Activities, Performing Arts, Partnerships, and our culture – what we call the BK Way. On behalf of our students and our faculty and staff, please accept my heartfelt gratitude for all you do for Bishop Kelly High School. Enjoy your evening, best of luck in your bidding, and God bless you all. Respectfully yours, Rich Raimondi Bishop Kelly President support our donors Please remember to support all our donors who graciously and generously support Bishop Kelly. Many members of the Bishop Kelly family, including students, had the opportunity to help add clay to the sculpture and symbolically leave their fingerprints on the work. We hope that you will consider making a donation to this worthy cause. This school year, one out of every five students at BK receives some form of financial assistance, and a significant portion of that is through the efforts of the Bishop Kelly Foundation and its scholarship endowment. Every dollar that you pledge tonight will go directly to funding a scholar who wishes to attend Bishop Kelly in the 2013-2014 school year. We hope you will open your hearts and help us reach our goal of $55,000 in scholarship pledges this evening. God bless you!
