How much do your home appliances cost to operate? www.masonpud3.org/howmuch The basic measure of electricity is the kilowatt-hour (kWh). The electric bill indicates the number of kilowatt-hours used plus a daily customer charge and applicable taxes. The following formula gives a rough estimate of the cost of operating an appliance each month. Three things must be known to make this estimate: Wattage of the appliance (Use the formula: Volts x Amps = Watts , or see listing or specific appliance guide), an estimate of the hours used each month, and the cost per kWh for electricity. The current Mason County PUD No. 3 residential rate, effective February 1, 2014 is: 0.0652 /kWh (Watts X Hours of Use) / 1000 = kWh kWh X 0.0652 = Monthly Operating Cost Heating & Lighting Air Conditioner - Window Unit Air HEPA Filter Ambient Fireplace w/Heat on LOW Ambient Fireplace w/Heat on HIGH Baseboard Heater 4ft.
