Sixth Regional Conference of Vice Chancellors, Provosts, Deans of Science, Engineering & Technology (COVIDSET 2015) About the COVIDSET COVIDSET is a bi-annual event organized by UNESCO. Over the last ten years, the event has provided a platform for Vice-Chancellors, Deans’, Heads of Departments, the private sector and development partners in Africa and the Diaspora to deliberate on state of higher education training and research, identify strategic issues for enhancing relevance of science engineering technology and innovation (SETI), Africa’s development agenda and development action plans. Conference objectives The forum aims to provide for discussion of issues pertaining to relevance of the current science and engineering curricula with particular reference to the attainment of the millennium development goals and sustainable development. CONFERENCE THEMES The objectives of COVISDET 2015 is to provide the forum for exchange of ideas, share experiences and good practices, sensitize policy makers and university leaders on current and emerging trends in SETI for Africa’s global competitiveness and develop strategies and actions for enhancing university education and training for high impact post 2015 under sub-themes: State of SETI Education in Africa Challenges and opportunities post 2015 Climate change and sustainable development: The role of research institutions and universities in Africa Making SETI relevant for youth employ-ability post 2015 Research commercialization and higher education financing Conference Registration fees The fee is $100.00 for participants from member Institutions of ANSTI. Other participants will pay $250. The fee covers the Welcome reception, conference dinner and the proceedings. Accommodation Participants will be accommodated at Nike Lake Resort, Enugu, Nigeria. Financial support Support for participation to the conference will be provided to Deans from ANSTI member institutions that are in good standing.
