VACANCY – EVIDENCE-BASED NURSING SOCIAL MEDIA ASSOCIATE EDITOR
Evidence-Based Nursing is seeking a new Associate Editor to take responsibility for the journal’s
social media activity.
There will be an honorarium of £1000 per year (paid at the end of June and end of December) to
recognise your contribution to the journal. If you are interested in being considered for this role

ROLE DESCRIPTOR
Management of Evidence-Based Nursing Twitter Journal Chats #ebnjc
1. The Social Media Associate Editor is likely to be involved in most Twitter Chats and as such needs
to be available between 8-9 pm (UK time) on the first and third Wednesdays of the month.
2. In addition to this:
a. Once a month host the fortnightly Twitter Chat.
b. Identify guest chat leads.
c. Ensure all fortnightly Twitter Chats have an Associate Editor available to host the chat
(the allocated Associate Editor will liaise with any ‘guest’ chat leads and be responsible
for uploading the blog on the Monday proceeding the chat).
3. In consultation with the Editor and Associate Editors maintain the rota for contributors to the
EBN Blog and Twitter Chat.
4. On a three monthly basis identify commentaries suitable for podcasts recordings.
5. Publicise via Twitter and other available media each Twitter Chat.
6. Ensure information about the Blog and Twitter Chat on the EBN website is up to date and
presented appropriately.
General Social Media Activities
1.
Manage the day-to-day strategy and implementation across the EBN Twitter and Facebook
accounts, posting content daily.
2. Ensure tweets are sent when new journal content is published online early.
3. When key nursing events and conferences are taking place tweet relevant content from the EBN
Twitter account.
4. Contribute to the EBN Blog on a regular basis.
5. Provide the editor with advice on the direction of the journal via email and telephone and at our
annual editors’ meeting. (Reasonable travel expenses covered.)
6. Represent EBN at key national and international events as agreed with the editor.
