BLAST Teacher Recommendaton The student who provided you with this form is applying for the Genes, Biotechnology & the Environment hands-on laboratory experience for high school students. This course is a 14-day intensive class, taking place in July 2015. The course will be taught at Tucson High Magnet School by Margaret Wilch, Elizabeth Arnold, Ph.D., David Baltrus, Ph.D and assisted by several graduate and undergraduate students from the University of Arizona. In this class, high school students will work in small groups using state-of-the-art equipment and methods to learn and apply basic molecular biology skills, in the context of an ecological research questions developed within the class. Course work will also include a field component. The selection committee seeks references from individuals who know the qualifications and qualities of the candidate.
