CremerVERO Argan Oil
(INCI: Argania spinosa kernel oil)
The Argan tree (Argania spinosa) only grows wild and exclusively in the savannah of south-western Morocco,
close to Agadir, and is therefore extremely rare. The tree has a broad, spreading crown and can live to an
age of 400 years. It has adapted to survive long periods of drought and high daytime temperatures of up
to 50 °C. The region in which this tree is found only extends to an estimated 0.9 million hectares. In order
to protect this region and the Berber tribes who live there, the so-called Arganeraie has been listed as a
UNESCO biosphere reserve since 1999.
The outstanding properties of this tree are nothing new to the Berber. It is a traditional spender of shade
for the people of the desert and its kernels and fruit have been employed for body care and as food since
time immemorial – which explains its colloquial name ‘the tree of life’.
Harvesting the gold of the Moroccan desert
Six to seven trees are required to yield enough for a single litre of Argan oil – the golden elixir of life.
One hectare with Argan trees produces around 800 kilos of nuts, equivalent to 40 kilos of kernels,
from which only a meagre 13 litres of Argan oil can be pressed.
The air of the desert is
warm, and fine dust dances
close to the ground. In the
distance, a group of Berber,
the indigenous people of
Morocco, are sitting in
their traditional robes and
rest in the shade of a tree
of life – an argan tree.
The greatest effort involved in the harvesting and production of Argan oil is the manual removal
of the soft fruit flesh and the cracking of the hard kernels. Each of these kernels contains a small
almond-shaped seed from which the precious oil – described as the world’s most exclusive
and rarest oil – is pressed. The fruit of the Argan tree is approximately twice the size of
an olive and is very similar in appearance when it‘s fresh. Harvesting takes place in
the months of July to September. The fruit, each of which may contain up to three
kernels, are gathered from the ground and laid out to dry in the sun.
The production of Argan oil
In Morocco, Argan oil is considered to be a life-giving elixir. The
‘almonds’ are dried before they are further processed for the cosmetics
industry. The actual oil is subsequently extracted by cold pressing.
CremerVERO Argan Oil is ideally suited for use in cosmetics. Its colour
is golden-yellow and it possesses a very slight yet characteristic
aroma. The women of the Berber tribes traditionally use the oil for
facial, body, nail and hair care, but also find use for it in homemade
cosmetics, together with other ingredients like rose oil or clay.
The particular properties of Argan oil
Its enormous variety of uses helped Argan oil to its eventual breakthrough in the cosmetics manufacturing segment.
Thanks to its extraordinarily high vitamin A (retinol) and vitamin E (tocopherol) content, Argan oil is considered
to be an effective antioxidant. It neutralises free radicals and therefore is well suited for use in anti-aging products. The high
proportion of Omega-6 fatty acids it contains promotes the passage of oxygen through the cell membranes and thus has a
regenerative effect. In addition, Argan oil has an intense caring effect, smoothes and moisturises the skin. It returns a healthy
shine to dry and brittle hair.

Our CremerVERO Argan Oil Supra
Argan oil is truly precious – its production is a long and complex process, and it
therefore justifiably demands a certain price.
As a consequence of the ever-increasing demand for Argan oil and extremely limited resources, an enormous number
of blends of different qualities are currently found on the cosmetics market. Frequently, pure Argan oil is mixed with
lower-priced oils – for instance, olive or sunflower oil – and marketed as pure Argan oil.
We have found a reliable alternative:
in addition to our pure Argan oil, the unadulterated quality of which we guarantee, we also offer a competitive, alternative product, CremerVERO Argan Oil Supra. This oil is produced in Germany and is a blend of pure Argan oil and
MCT oil (Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride); naturally, it is also of certified organic quality.
In comparison to pure Argan oil, it has certain other advantages. It has a light, golden and clearly characteristic colour
and shows excellent stability against oxidation. It is quickly absorbed by the skin and leaves a pleasantly dry surface
film. CremerVERO Argan Oil Supra can also be employed as an ingredient in existing formulations, with the simultaneous benefits of reduced costs for raw materials and improvement of the final product.
CremerVERO Argan Oil Organic and CremerVERO Argan Oil Supra Organic are certified by ECOCERT Greenlife according
to the ECOCERT Standard for Natural and Organic Cosmetics and certified organic by ECOCERT Greenlife according
to COSMOS standard. CremerVERO Argan Oil Organic and CremerVERO Argan Oil Supra Organic also comply with
NATRUE criteria.
