Welcome to IPA 2015
The African Innovation Foundation (AIF) is proud to announce that the 4th Innovation
Prize for Africa (IPA) awards event will take place on 13 May 2015 in Morocco. This
sponsorship package has been developed to inform you as potential partners and
sponsors of the various partnering, marketing and networking opportunities that this
prestigious annual AIF event offers.
The 4th IPA event follows
on the highly successful 3rd
awards ceremony held in
May 2014 in Abuja, Nigeria
which was attended by more
than 400 innovators and
innovation enablers from
the agricultural, technology,
health, governance and
education sectors, including
the media and a host of
international delegates.
The African Innovation Foundation
(AIF) works to increase the prosperity
of Africans by catalysing the innovation
spirit across Africa. Its core programs
catalyse innovation for positive
transformation, promote free access
to African law and governance, and
support local empowerment through
social impact development.
IPA 2015 is unique in that it brings
together the African innovation
community of movers and shakers from
various sectors and backgrounds who
usually do not interact. Participants are
drawn from a diverse range of sectors
that include scientists, technologists,
public health professionals, business/
entrepreneurs, government agencies,
industry specialists, innovative
institutions and media representatives.
This presents an exceptional
opportunity to investors, governments
and other stakeholders interested in
evaluating, investing and maximising
the continent’s resources to accelerate
the Africa growth story.
Every year, three of Africa’s outstanding
innovators are selected through a
rigorous and validated selection process
driven by a competent panel of judges.
As winners, they receive a prize share of
US$ 150 000 (US$ 100 000 for the Grand
Prize, and US$ 25 000 to each of the two
additional winners).
The 2015 IPA awards seek to build the
African innovation ecosystem by:
• Creating an all-inclusive opportunity
for innovators to showcase their
innovations and attract investments
• Networking and sharing experiences
in innovation technology and
science, as well as social and cultural
elements
• Forging new and meaningful
partnerships with like-minded
thinkers
• Increasing community participation
and dialogue on innovation
• Raising the level of media awareness
on innovation by Africans for
Africans across Africa
• Helping to further build an
innovation-led community across
the continent by identifying
challenges and opportunities
• Sharing best practices and the
latest research on innovation, and
promoting demand-led innovation
• Increasing business opportunities,
employment prospects, and driving
economic growth in Africa.
The AIF team, in collabration with
its Moroccan partner, the Ministry
of Industry, Trade, Investment and
the Digital Economy is committed to
hosting a memorable event, embodying
the rigors of innovation in science,
industry and technology with a firm
focus on advancing innovation in Africa.
“I want to thank the African Innovation Foundation for what it is doing. I mean, it’s
remarkable, we’ve always been looking for ways to reward our young people and old
people who are coming up with new ideas on the continent, and the fact that we have
this prize is one of the fitting things that is moving the continent forward”
Honorable Ngozi-Okonjo Iweala, Nigerian Coordinating Minister of Economy and
Finance, IPA 2014 Awards ceremony, Abuja, Nigeria

Thank you, Obrigado, Merci, Shukran!
We believe that unlocking untapped
potential and promoting good
inventions is a success story for
innovation. Furthermore, innovation
is dynamic and has no demographics.
We have seen its diversity, from a
low-cost farming device used to easily
drain excess water from waterlogged
fields in East Africa to an innovative
injection which leads to a rapid, safe and
effective healing of problematic bone
injuries in the very south of Africa!
Our stories boast success across the
continent, and can be replicated for
sustainable development, the best way

efficiency or cost savings in Africa. IPA goals are to:
- Mobilize leaders from all sectors to
fuel African innovation
- Promote innovation across Africa in
