M-O-T-H-E-R
"M" is for the million things she gave me,
"O" means only that she's growing old,
"T" is for the tears she shed to save me,
"H" is for her heart of purest gold;
"E" is for her eyes, with love-light shining,
"R" means right, and right she'll always be,
Put them all together, they spell
"MOTHER,"

National Crime Victim’s Rights
Community Service Team of BCPD
Every year the nation observes National Crime Victims’ Rights
Week—promoting victims’ rights and honoring crime victims and those
who advocate on their behalf. Millions of Americans each year are
victimized by crime—acts of terrorism, violent crime, financial fraud, child
abuse, computer crime, kidnapping, bank robbery...the list is endless.
Communities across the country celebrate decades of hard-earned progress in securing
the rights, resources and protection that crime victims’ need to rebuild their lives. Our goal is
to promote awareness to every association around Baltimore County.
Below is a list of resources/sponsors that will aid the victims of crime in their quest to restore their lives for the future. These resources will help victims deal with mental, physical,
financial, emotional and spiritual issues.

Letter From the President of the Council
May flowers are blooming and a very long
winter is behind us. What a great chance for us all to
get outdoors and experience the beauty of nature. I
hope you have safety in mind when planning your
events for the coming warm weather months.
Remember to use sunscreen that is 30 SPF or
higher. This goes for even brief periods when you’ll
be exposed to those potentially harmful rays of the
sun.
We are quickly closing in on our 45th Anniversary Celebration this month to be held here at the
center on May 8th. If you have not already
purchased your tickets ($20.00 per person), do so
now to make sure you are not left out. It promises to
be a wonderful time with live music, great food, and
most importantly, YOU !
Memorial Day is the one time every year
when we thank those who either currently serve or
have served our country in the armed forces. Their
devotion to duty and protecting the rights we all
enjoy should never be taken lightly. Thank a vet who
you may know, or just stop someone in uniform that
you may encounter on the street and tell them how
much you appreciate what they do.
We have a council meeting here at
Catonsville Senior Center this month on May 11, and
next month on June 8. Please stop by and sit in on
the meeting. You are always welcome, and we’d love
to get your input on items of interest to you. Lets’
start the summer season off right and stay active!

MISSION
The Baltimore County
Department of Aging
strengthens lives by
connecting individuals
to community resources,
programs and services.
MAP of BAltiMore County • 410-887-2594 • (Maryland Relay 7-1-1)
aginginfo@baltimorecountymd.gov
Maryland Access Point ( MAP) of Baltimore County is part of a nationwide effort to streamline
access to support, services and benefits to older adults, persons with disabilities, their families and
care providers.
CENTER CONNECTION
Center Connection links persons age 60 and over who need support to activities and services
provided by the senior center. Center Connection Specialists, operating in eight Baltimore County
Senior Centers, maximize individual’s senior center experience by encouraging participation in
activities, registering for classes/Eating Together, and connecting them with other members.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH SPECIALISTS
www.baltimorecountymd.gov/aging

This program connects Baltimore County residents age 60+ to community resources. Outreach
workers evaluate seniors’ needs, assist with applying for benefits and services, and connect seniors
to resources.

their spouses of any age are eligible to participate in this program and are asked to make
a voluntary, confidential donation.
HOME TEAM

assistance to help with Medicare and prescription cost.
INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY
It is the policy of the Baltimore County Department of Aging to open and fully operate its programs
as scheduled. The effects of severe weather and concern for the safety of our constituents may,
however, lead us to close centers, CountyRide, and other services/programs. When this or closing for
any other reason occurs, media announcements regarding closures or late openings will ONLY be
made on WBAL Radio, 1090 AM; WBAL-TV 11 and WJZ-TV 13. Information on closings and/or late
openings will also be published on the Baltimore County web site, www.baltimorecountymd.gov.
Senior Centers will open at 10:30 a.m. when a 2-hour delay is reported.
