Handmade in Britain announce a new event to their annual programme,
Handmade in Britain 14: Spring Edition
The Contemporary Crafts & Design Fair
9th-11th May | Private View: 8th May | Chelsea Old Town Hall, London
This year Handmade in Britain launches the
first Spring Edition of the established winter
showcase, The Contemporary Crafts & Design
Fair, now in its 8th year.
Opening the doors to the beautiful Chelsea Old
Town Hall for three days this May, the new
event will showcase the best of contemporary
fine crafts in all disciplines across fashion and
Interiors.
With innovative design alongside
exceptional craftsmanship, expect a dazzling
variety of form, function and style from 100
highly skilled designer-makers.
A luxury shopping experience on the famous
King’s Road, Spring Edition is a unique
opportunity to browse, buy and commission
directly from the maker, unearthing the stories,
inspirations and processes behind your
favourite pieces.
Explore a rich variety of contemporary craft and
design in fashion and interiors from disciplines
including ceramics, jewellery, glass, textiles,
silver and furniture from established makers
and new names alike, including…
FASHION
Revitalise your wardrobe for spring and summer with luxury
fashion and accessories, each piece handmade and unique.
Using straw and sinamay, ombre-dye and metal leaf, milliner
Sarah Cant creates simple and striking pieces with traditional
hand techniques and presents her new collection at Spring Edition.
Last year’s New Graduate Showcase exhibitor Anna Byers
returns with her innovative ‘interactive’ collection, featuring
movable elements in endlessly adaptable geometric pieces. We
welcome back the classic yet contemporary jewellery from
designer Emma Farquharson in a showcase of exquisitely
manipulated gold and silver with diamonds and coloured
gemstones and Elaine Cox with her highly experimental,
sculptural pieces. Amongst the sumptuous textiles at Spring
Edition, discover conceptual prints and intriguing fabrications in the
accessories of Jo Holland, a photographic artist and Cristina
Sabaiduc, a womenswear designer who present their latest
collaborations.
INTERIORS
At Spring Edition covetable interior pieces for your home offer
stunning innovation in design and radiate with freshness and
colour for the new season.
Offer your rooms the texture, movement and light of Cissy Cook’s
stunning large scale paper artworks, and invest in the exceptional
craftsmanship of master furniture maker Tim Chadsey. Explore
ceramics in a breathtaking variety of function and style, including
Clare McComish’s thought provoking sculptural series inspired by
buoys and sea life, and the acutely still and delicate tableware of
Kirsty Adams. Eileen Gatt showcases her playful and exquisite
collections of functional and ornamental silver pieces inspired by
the Scottish Highlands, stories and folklore, Lettie Belle brings
nostalgic home textiles for discerning little ones and Aline
Johnson presents contemporary colour in her energetic glass
pieces and striking light installations.
News from Spring Edition!
This year, we showcase the work of new millinery graduates from the Kensington and Chelsea College.
The graduates will present their work for purchase or commission in a dedicated gallery area for the
duration of the show.
We are excited to welcome ceramic artists from London Potters and four scholars from the Queen
Elizabeth Scholarship Trust.
