Greg Martin (cell) 704-300-8427- (email) pastorgreg_martin@live.com (out of the office on Friday) Our Mission Statement is striving to give honor and glory to God in all things. It is the mission of First Presbyterian Church to grow in the grace and love of Jesus Christ, as we reach out to God's people sharing the good news of the gospel through words and actions. Our Purpose Statement is to Glorify God, Grow Spiritually and to Go Faithfully into the world to serve Him. What We Believe The Bible is the written word of God inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Bible is the revelation of God's truth, is infallible and authoritative in all matters of faith and practice. Those who are called to office in the church are to lead a life of obedience to Scripture and to live either in fidelity within the covenant of marriage or chastity in singleness. Marriage is holy; ordained by God; and is between one man and one woman. All are sinners and unable to save themselves from God's displeasure, except by God's abundant mercy. Jesus Christ is the only begotten son of God, our ONLY hope for eternal salvation in life and in death. He alone is head of the church and Lord of heaven & earth. Church Staff Rev. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? 25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. 26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. Dear Church Members: This June, I will be heading to Nicaragua to assist on a 10 day medical mission trip. Our team of doctors, nurses and assistants will be taking care of medical needs as well as hosting a Vacation Bible School. I am super excited about the opportunity to help others with their physical needs and to share the love of Christ at the same time. God works in many powerful and wonderful ways and I can’t wait to see what mighty works he will do. In an effort to help fund my trip, I will host a lunch after the service on Sunday, May 31st. This will be a potato bar with all the fixin’s. The menu will be: Baked potatoes, salad, chili, and toppings. Drinks and dessert. A Love Offering will be taken up at the lunch. Thank you in advance for your prayers, support and funds. Sarah Johnson Mal & Shirley Brutko’s son, Col. Todd W. Gossett, past member of this church is retiring from the Air Force at a ceremony at the Pentagon on June 1. He and his wife Lisa and their three daughters live in Dumfries, Virginia. Mal & Shirley Brutko’s son-in-law & daughter, Matt & Kerri Morris and family are moving to Gastonia, N. C. in July, where Matt will be the pastor of Christ Methodist Church. Please keep them in your prayers for a smooth relocation.
