Free Earthquake Damage Prevention Events Coming to Yuma March 26 and 27
The nonprofit Federal Alliance for Safe Homes (FLASH)® is proud to co-present the QuakeSmart™ Business
Preparedness Summit for businesses in Yuma, AZ. This is the fourth in a series of free earthquake damage
prevention workshops offered across the Nation. The workshop will focus on the FEMA QuakeSmart
Community Resilience Program which provides comprehensive earthquake assessments, and engineering
and retrofit information designed to keep businesses open post-earthquake. Attendees will learn about
incident command necessities and engineered solutions, complete initial QuakeSmart assessments, and
learn how to and begin budgeting for business retrofit projects.
Following the summit, the public is invited to experience an earthquake at the ShowUp and ShakeOut event
featuring the Quake Cottage earthquake simulator at the Yuma Palms Regional Center.
Finally, a new QuakeSmart specialty training offering “Seven Steps to Earthquake Safety” is available for
local handymen, building trade students, maintenance personnel and others interested in learning how to
