Pastor’s Notes
H
e is Risen! Yes, say it again to yourself, “HE IS RISEN!” As Christians, we celebrate what our
Heavenly Father has done, He has raised His Son from the dead and for those willing to
receive Him, He has poured out His Spirit into their lives. Easter is a glorious event but it’s more
than that, it is a life changer. The resurrection of Jesus gives each of us purpose, promise and
hope; sadly these are three blessings most people live without. “What a God we have! And how
fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the
dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven- and the future starts now!” (1 Peter 1:3 The Message)
The fact that the “future starts now” is what
Peter wants us to remember as we live-out
this resurrection reality.
How should we live?
Peter writes: “So roll up
your sleeves, put your
mind in gear, be totally
ready to receive the gift
that’s coming when Jesus arrives. Don’t lazily
slip back into those old
grooves of evil, doing
just what you feel like
doing. You didn’t know
any better then; you
do now. As obedient children, let yourselves be pulled into a way of life shaped by God’s life, a life
energetic and blazing with holiness. God said, “I am holy; you be holy.”” (1 Peter 1: 13-16)
Over the years, I have discovered that the life of a slumbering Christian is a sad life; it is not a happy
life at all. My hope is that God will awaken your spirit to His callings. My prayer is that you will
have greater courage to be His instruments, to do His work and speak out for Him, to tell others
of the night-and-day difference He made in for you – from nothing to something, from rejected to
accepted. (1 Peter 2:9-10)
Let us not forget our first love (Jesus) and let us serve Him faithfully as we seek to please Him in all
that we do.
Grace & Peace,
Pastor

Local Missions: Operation H OPE -Vista
APRIL 2015
T
he 12th Annual Dinner and Auction for Operation HOPE – Vista was a huge success! This is one
of the local mission interests we have supported in many ways and for many years. As the ma-
jor fundraiser for the shelter, the annual dinner & auction was spectacular. So many of the people
of Grace gave of their time and talents to help bring it all together. We had a hand in the classy
table decorations and centerpieces, preparing part of the delicious meal, set-up & tear-down, the
program and the auction. Many thanks go out to those of you who solicited and donated items,
gift cards and beautiful baskets for the auction. Many of you bought tickets to donate and many
more were there to celebrate the night and bid like crazy! Bottom line, this event netted over
$30,000 for the shelter!! That amount is enough to cover one entire month of client services and
supplies as well as utilities and staffing. Praise God!!
Thank you all for making this possible!

National Day of Prayer
T
he 64th annual National Day of Prayer, May 7, 2015, will have profound significance for our country. It is an
unprecedented opportunity to see the Lord’s healing and renewing power made manifest as we call on
citizens to humbly come before His throne. Our theme for 2015 is Lord, Hear Our Cry, emphasizing the need
for individuals, corporately and individually, to place their faith in the unfailing character of their Creator, who
is sovereign over all governments, authorities, and men. Dr. Jack Graham has accepted the role as Honorary
Chairman. PowerPoint Ministries is the radio and television broadcast ministry of Dr. Jack Graham in Plano, Texas. Dr. Graham is also the pastor of Prestonwood Baptist Church.
We hope you’ll join us in prayer on Thursday, May 7th in the Sanctuary!

NEIGHBORHOOD CHURCH
GRACE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH IS A CONFESSING CHURCH,
and we believe:
That Jesus Christ alone is Lord of all and the way of salvation.
That Holy Scripture is the triune God’s revealed Word,
the Church’s only infallible rule of faith and life.
That God’s people are called to holiness in all aspects of life.
