MIDWEEK Antiques Show confirms opening hours
Rhinebeck, NY; Barn Star Productions and
Frank Gaglio managers of the 22 year running
MidWeek Antiques Show, in Concord, NH during
Antiques Week in New Hampshire are adjusting
their opening hour for this years’ Tuesday, August
4th and 5th show.
Comments Gaglio, “Last year we moved our
Midweek Show to Tuesday following the Americana
Celebration Antiques Show launching Antiques
Week with two popular and important events
opening four hours apart. Attendance appeared
strong and so were sales. This year MidWeek was
scheduled to open at noon however exhibitors and
customers have requested more time between the
show openings and so we are going back to last
year’s opening hour of 1PM on Tuesday, August 4
and 10AM on Wednesday, August 5 consistent with
last year’s schedule. We hope this schedule change
works out best for both shows, exhibiting dealers
and customers alike assuring Antiques Week in New
Hampshire continues successfully”.

Country Inns presents Herb, Food and Beer Tour
Mt Washington Valley, NH – What do basil, brews and
bittersweet all have in common? Guests visiting the Country
Inns in the White Mountains on May 30-31, 2015 will have
the opportunity to taste all of these and much more during
the annual Herb, Food and Beer Tour in Mt Washington
Valley, NH. This celebration of local flavors, combines herb
recipe tastings, tours, take-home seedlings and recipes at
eight White Mountain inns along with cooking demonstrations, a plant-to-plate “herb-inspired” dinner and overnight
stays at a choice of premier Mt Washington Valley, NH inns.
Formerly focused solely on herb tastings, trivia and recipes at
each inn, the Country Inns in the White Mountains have once
again ramped up their annual herb tour this year to include
a celebration of local flavors including visits and tastings at
two local microbreweries, a chocolate maker, a health food
store and three family-owned farms on top of the tours, tastings, recipes at the inns. This is one plant-to-plate weekend
to remember, and not only will you take home inspiration
you’ll leave with a year of culinary ideas and a full stomach!
The perfect spring follow-up to their annual Inn to Inn
Holiday Cookie and Candy Tour and just in time for gardening
season, Country Inns in the White Mountains guests will
usher in spring with a weekend celebrating the gardento-table movement combined with a relaxing learning
and tasting getaway. Here’s how it works: On May 30-31,
2015 join eight premier White Mountains inns for the Mt.
Washington Valley Herb, Food and Beer Tour: A Celebration
of Local Flavors from 11:00am-4:00pm each day, as each inn
ELIZABETH CAMPBELL PHOTOGRAPHY
presents an in-depth look at a popular culinary herb paired
with tastings of that herb creatively presented in sweet and
savory treats at each inn stop. Tourgoers will receive herb
recipes and the herb seedling being featured at each inn,
offered in peat pots perfect for easy planting and grown
locally by Littlefield Farms. In addition, cooking demonstrations have been added at certain inns too. Participants will
go home with a folder of new recipes from dishes they tasted
plus interesting herbal lore.
And this year, stops have been added along the way 

CANTERBURY, NH: On April 11, 2015, Canterbury Shaker Village will offer “Hands-on Grafting” from 10:00-12:00 pm and “Competent Pruning” from
1:00-3:00 pm. The workshops will be instructed by nationally recognized organic
orchardist, Michael Phillips.
Grafting fruit trees involves a sharp knife and the mindset of a surgeon—but
don’t let that intimidate you! During “Hands-on Grafting,” Instructor Michael Phillips will guide participants in bench grafting, using the whip-and-tongue union to
place a chosen variety on provided rootstock. Participants will have the opportunity
to make their own graft and take two baby trees home. Time will be spent outside
topworking an existing tree
using the bark inlay graft.
Understanding this technique
allows you to create a tree
bearing multiple varieties.
The practical insights shared
in this workshop will launch
many fruit adventures ahead.
Early spring is an ideal
time to prune fruit trees. As
part of “Competent Pruning”
Michael will discuss specific
horticultural goals to keep in
mind when deciding which
limbs and shoots to remove
such as sunlight interception,
strong branch structure, this
year’s fruiting prospects,
tree calmness, and canopy
renewal. We achieve these
goals by distinguishing

pruning may sound daunting,
which is why this workshop takes place at an actual orchard with trees needing
attention. You’ll see the results of appropriate cuts from the perspective of light
space. Better yet, for those so inclined, you’ll make some pruning decisions of your
own under the watchful eye of an experienced fruit grower.
The cost to attend one of the workshops is $35.00 for Canterbury Shaker Village
Members and $40.00 for Non-Members. The cost for both workshops is $60.00 for
Canterbury Shaker Village Members and $75.00 for Non-Members. Preregistration
is required. Participants taking the full day’s workshops are encouraged to bring
a lunch and take advantage of the opportunity for informal discussion with other
students. Canterbury Shaker Village will provide water and hot beverages.
Instructor Michael Phillips is known across the country for helping people grow
healthy fruit. The “community orchard movement” that he helped found at www.
GrowOrganicApples.com provides a full immersion into the holistic approach to
orcharding. His Lost Nation Orchard is part of a medicinal herb farm in northern
New Hampshire. Michael’s newest book, The Holistic Orchard: Tree Fruits and Berries the Biological Way, recently received Garden Book of the Year honors from the
American Horticultural Society.
Michael Phillips will return to Canterbury Shaker Village on May 16 for a full
day workshop on home orchard care". For more information on this and other
Shaker-inspired workshops offered at Canterbury Shaker Village, please visit www.

these tours a favorite springtime
tradition. “Last year nearly 800 visitors
participated in the Maple Experience
at The Rocks in just seven days,” said
longtime Rocks Estate manager Nigel

a fun and educational program for
visitors of all ages.” Reservations are

Facility. About the show: Five Southern
women, whose friendships began many
years ago on their college swim team,
set aside a long weekend every August
to recharge those relationships. Free
from husbands, kids and jobs, they
meet at the same beach cottage on
North Carolina’s Outer Banks to catch
up, laugh and meddle in each other’s
lives. The Dixie Swim Club focuses on
four of those weekends and spans a
period of thirty-three years in a story of
five unforgettable women – a hilarious
and touching comedy about friendships
that last forever… Majestic’s production stars an ensemble cast under the
direction of Carol Neveux. All inclusive

Tom Rush is a gifted musician and
performer, whose shows offer a musical
celebration...a journey into the tradition and spectrum of what music has
been, can be, and will become. His
distinctive guitar style, wry humor and
warm, expressive voice have made him
both a legend and a lure to audiences
around the world. His shows are filled
with the rib-aching laughter of terrific
story-telling, the sweet melancholy of
ballads and the passion of gritty blues.
Rush's impact on the American music
scene has been profound. He helped
shape the folk revival in the '60s and
the renaissance of the '80s and '90s, his
music having left its stamp on generations of artists. James Taylor told Rolling Stone, "Tom was not only one of my
early heroes, but also one of my main
influences." Country music star Garth
Brooks has credited Rush with being
one of his top five musical influences.
Rush has long championed emerging
artists. His early recordings introduced
the world to the work of Joni Mitchell,
Jackson Browne and James Taylor
Today, Tom Rush lives in Vermont when
he's not touring. His voice has grown
even richer and more melodic with
training and time, and his music, like
a fine wine, has matured and ripened
in the blending of traditional and
modern influences. He's doing what
he loves, and what audiences love him
for: writing and playing ...passionately,
tenderly...knitting together the musical
traditions and talents of our times.

Don’t just take our word for it, here’s
what recognized travel experts have
to say about compelling reasons to
consult a travel professional:
“Why do I still like agents? A competent travel adviser
can be your greatest asset when you’re planning a
trip. Good travel agents have an edge over almost any
other seller of travel. They know what you want. They
speak your language. And they’re there for you when
you run into trouble.”
Christopher Elliot, ombudsman,
National Geographic Traveler magazine
“It’s clear agents can likely save travelers big money
and help set a realistic itinerary. Even where they
weren’t cheaper, the agents competed with what we
could find on our own. And we were impressed where
they did save us money, in particular with hotels.”
Jane Hodges, Wall Street Journal
“Having a travel agent advise you is now more important than ever,” as fees, surcharges, and other travel
restrictions have become more confusing for consumers. “Travel is one of the most complicated purchases.”
