2015 Community Supported Agriculture Farm Share Membership 2015 CSA Membership Information Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a popular way for consumers to buy local, seasonal food, straight from the farm. When you buy a share, you are directly supporting farmers through the entire growing season. In exchange, you get an everchanging supply of the freshest produce possible (short of picking it yourself), organically and sustainably grown. The produce is just the beginning: membership brings a chance to connect with the farm and farmers, as well as the whole CSA community through regular pickups and special events. All produce is grown at Longview Farm, located on 120 acres in Montgomery County, PA. The CSA season lasts 24 weeks, from approximately mid-May until October. Produce is harvested less than 24 hours before receiving your share, and much of it will last several weeks if stored properly. The share system. Each week when you come for pickup, you will see signage which will show you what and how much produce is available, through a share system. In our system, for example, a full share is divided into 10 parts or units; a single unit might be a head of lettuce, a bunch of carrots or a half dozen peppers. One full share should be enough for a family of four, or enough for two hearty vegetable eaters. Full Share: 9-10 units per week for 24 weeks Medium Share: 5-6 units per week for 24 weeks Where do I pick up my produce? Greener Partners offers several pickup locations. Our main location is Longview Farm itself, but five other locations make pickup convenient: Ardmore, Berwyn, Malvern, Media and Skippack. (See back page for details.) What kinds of produce can I expect? The array of produce in each weekly share will vary throughout the growing season, from fast-growing salad greens and herbs in spring to tomatoes and watermelons in mid-season to root vegetables, broccoli and pumpkins as fall approaches. Our aim is to provide a wide range of produce throughout the growing season. Through a diversity of planting selections, you’re ensured a dynamic sampling of delicious local foods each week. Below is just a taste of the varieties of produce you’re likely to enjoy as the season progresses. 2015 CSA Membership Information Here’s a sampling of our harvest through the seasons: SPRING SUMMER FALL Lettuce Beets Peas Carrots Collards Arugula Kohlrabi Turnips Radishes Spinach Broccoli Cabbage Cauliflower Parsley Scallions Tomatoes Cucumbers Watermelon Summer Squash Zucchini Eggplant Frying peppers Bell peppers Fennel Beets Chard Leeks Onions Garlic Shallots Basil Cherry Tomatoes Green Beans Kale Collards Cauliflower Carrots Beets Sweet Potato Arugala Winter Squash Cabbage Celery Radicchio Bok Choi Garlic Turnips Questions?
