Jeffery Yang earned 1st place overall at the
Georgia Science and Engineering Fair
After winning 1st place overall at the Georgia Science
and Engineering Fair, Jeffery earned a spot at the Intel
International Science and Engineering Fair to be held in
Pittsburgh, PA in May. He joins Satya Jella who already
earned a spot at Intel from the Gwinnett Regional
Science and Engineering Fair. Congratulations Jeffery!
TSA TechnoDragons place at State
The GSMST TSA TechnoDragons competed at the TSA State Championship last
Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The club competed in 38 different events and
placed in 33 of them. The team nearly doubled the number of points scored over
last year. The competition was fierce and the TechnoDragons placed in 4th
overall. Eight teams placed in the top three slots. The 2nd place teams will be
recognized at the upcoming Gwinnett County Board Meeting on April 16th.

Talent Competition a HUGE night at GSMST

GSMST Talent Competition. All acts were excellent and
fun was had by everyone. The winners are:

FLAG Spoken Language Contest
This past Saturday students participated in FLAG Spoken Language Contest and
received the highest "Superior" level honor. These students are: Micaiah Cowart,
Sharon Flores, Mahadia Islam, Sana Rehmani, Kaela White, Stephanie
Anderson, Linh Dang, Cindy Phan, and Bria Wright. Congratulations students!
Georgia Economics Challenge at the Federal Reserve Bank
On Monday, March 23, 2015 four students of GSMST attended the Georgia
Economics Challenge at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and competed with
a total of 22 teams to become semi­finalist for the National Economics Challenge
in New York in May.
Our team had superb ratings in the academic rounds of Microeconomics,
Macroeconomics, and International Trade ­ receiving the highest scores in all
three areas. In the quiz bowl, which is the decisive round between first and
second place, the team was conquered by Chattahoochee High School. Please congratulate the four participants ­ Joshua Brunner, Grayson Noah, Kevin
Shelton, and Samuel Zinga ­ to their accomplishments.
Special CUDOS go to Joshua Brunner who was recognized by the Georgia
Council for the highest individual score in the Adam Smith division which is
tailored for students in AP and IB programs.
10th Grade Job Shadow
Wednesday, April 1st On Wednesday, April 1st, all 10th grade students will be participating in
GSMST's Annual Job Shadow Day. Permission forms with more specific
information have been distributed and must be returned by Wednesday morning.
Please ensure that students are dressed appropriately for a corporate
environment and that they are wearing closed­toe shoes on Wednesday. Thank
you!
Attention Seniors: GSMST PTSA Scholarships
This year, the GSMST PTSA is proud to offer four (4) $500.00 scholarships to its
seniors! Please print and completely fill out the scholarship application.
Applicants MUST be a PTSA member in order to apply. If you are not a member,
you can still join the PTSA. The membership fee is $10.00. All components of the
application are due in the PTSA drop box located in the attendance office by 3:30
PM on Monday, April 20th, 2015. The winners will be announced on Tuesday,
May 12th, 2015.
GSMST Orchestra Accolades
17 students made it to the 2nd round All­State Audition
10 students made it to one of two All­State Orchestras
7 students were selected for the Kendall Youth Orchestra and Gwinnett County
Youth Symphony
5 students were selected for the Emory Youth Symphony Orchestra
4 students received superior and 3 students received excellent Solo and
Ensemble ratings
All 3 orchestras received ALL superior ratings (including sight reading) at the
GMEA District 13 LGPE
1 student was selected for Governor's Honors Program in piano
Internship Intel: New Partnership
Kids4Coding will be hosting JFE interns this summer. For

The first round of summer 2015 JFE internship opportunities has been posted in
eclass. Don't miss out on these amazing opportunities! Deadlines are quickly
approaching for some fun, local opportunities and some really unique, academic
experiences with our university partners. Contact Ms. D'Antonio if you have any

GSMST Study Abroad Opportunities
Spanish: The itinerary for GSMST's 2015 Study Abroad
trip has recently changed! Our trip will now include
MORE Spanish history, art, and language as it will
highlight Spain's capital city, Madrid and the former
capital, Toledo. Today, Toledo is considered by many to be the most medieval
city of Europe. Check out our trip website to register and find out more

German:Students can also participate in a June 2015 trip to Germany. There is
still time to sign up. Our trip is called Prussia, Bohemia, Bavaria. GSMST STUDY
ABROAD GERMANY 2015. There is also the opportunity to stay with a German
family and attend a German high school for two weeks in addition to the nine­day
tour.

Tutoring Opportunities
NHS and Beta Club
National Honor Society and Beta Club provide tutoring to all GSMST students for
a wide variety of subjects. If you would like help, go to the GSMST eCLASS
homepage and sign up on the document available. A tutor will contact you to set
up when and where to meet. Tutoring can be done around your schedule, but
Ms. Covin's and Mr. Hersch's rooms will be available most days after school for a
quiet place to tutor if needed.
GSMST Final Exam Exemption Policy
Honor Graduates (cumulative GPA of 90.0 as of January 2015) are eligible to
exempt the exam in any class period with 3 or fewer absences (no matter the
grade.) Other seniors are eligible to exempt the exam in any class period in
which they have 90.0 average (after 10 points added to AP classes) as of 5/1/15
and they have 3 or fewer absences. Click here to review the document.
