PARENTS AS PARTNERS
CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY
Parental involvement in the life of the
College is a vital ingredient to the success
of Heatherton Christian College. The
College sees itself as an extension of the
Christian home and the contribution of
parents to the daily life of the school
helps to reinforce this bond.
Participation may involve:
 Classroom help
 School canteen
 School camp and excursions
 Parents prayer group
 College Board
 Working Bees
A Parents and Friends Association (PFA)
also exists to support the College in many
ways such as caring for College families in
need, organizing social events such as
picnics, socials and fund-raising.
Phone the College for an initial interview, involving both student and parents.
This will incorporate a tour of the facilities. We will then provide a list of
requirements if you wish to proceed.
The College is funded by State and Commonwealth Government grants in
addition to the tuition fees. Families with more than one sibling receive a fee
discount. The College is aimed primarily to serve those families who attend a
Christian Church. A break up of the fee structure will be explained upon request.
Families who enrol a child at Heatherton Christian College become part of a
Christian community of parents dedicated to Christian education. A warm family
atmosphere permeates the College as parents, teachers and students work
together in an atmosphere of mutual love and respect.
Presentation Night, sporting carnivals, musical and dramatic performances, club
programs and other special occasions provide opportunities for the gifts and
abilities of students to be demonstrated and celebrated. Self-esteem is fostered
by recognising students’ achievements through weekly awards presented at
assembly. Annual awards are presented for excellence in Academic, Sport, Music,
Science, Art and Most Improved. The Timothy Award is presented annually to the
outstanding Primary and Secondary student of the year. An academic scholarship
is awarded to the highest achieving student in Year 6-11 each year.
THE COLLEGE BOARD
Heatherton Christian College is governed
by the College Board. The Board meets
regularly to formulate policies and to set
future goals and directions for the
College. Parents have an opportunity to
be nominated for a position on the
Board.

THE UNIFORM
The College believes very firmly that students benefit from the wearing of a
school uniform. The College colours are maroon and navy blue and these are
reflected in both summer and winter uniforms. There is also a sports uniform. All
students are required to be dressed in correct school uniform, without
modification, each school day.
DISCIPLINE THROUGH DISCIPLESHIP
The College has a reputation for exemplary student behavior. Incidents of
disrespect, bad language or bullying whilst rare, are addressed immediately and
taken seriously. Teachers take every opportunity to reinforce Godly morals and
Christian ethics. Issues are regularly discussed in morning assemblies and class
devotions and unacceptable behavior is promptly and lovingly corrected.
Students are educated in a safe and happy environment at Heatherton Christian
College.
HCC is an amazing school with amazing opportunities unavailable anywhere else. It is a privilege to be studying in a school like this, knowing that the

AFTER SCHOOL CARE
After school care is available for Primary
children by appointment only. After
school care begins at 3:30 pm and
concludes at 5:30 pm. Please note that
this service incurs extra charges and is
not covered by school fees.

Learning Standards (VELS) for Victorian schools, whilst building in clear Christcentred Bible-based values and a Christian world view.

Our fantastic Secondary staff have many years’ experience in delivering
quality VCE programs. The Secondary staff work closely with parents to
foster the academic and spiritual growth of your child. This is of crucial
importance in the years when students are making choices and decisions
