Trust appoints new chairman with strong local
ties to lead the trust
West London Mental Health Trust is pleased to announce the appointment of
Tom Hayhoe as chairman. He takes up his appointment on 1 April 2015.
Tom is well known to west Londoners from his time as chairman of West
Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust and before that as deputy chairman
of Ealing, Hammersmith and Hounslow Health Authority.
Steve Shrubb, chief executive of the trust, said: “I am very pleased that Tom
is joining as chairman of the trust. We have a very full programme of work as
we prepare for Care Quality Commission inspection in June and complete the
redevelopment of Broadmoor Hospital and St Bernard’s in Ealing in the
coming two years.
“Tom has a great deal of knowledge, insight and influence within the local
health and social care community, having served on west London NHS
boards since 1985 and this will be a huge advantage to the trust.”
Nigel McCorkell retires on 31 March 2015 after six year as chairman of the
trust Board.
Commenting on his retirement, Steve added: “I want to thank Nigel McCorkell
for his outstanding leadership of the trust Board. The role he played in
securing public funds to redevelop our estates was critical to our future
success as a provider, and his compassion toward patients and service users
is well known and much admired.”
On joining the trust, Tom Hayhoe said: “I am pleased to be joining West
London Mental Health Trust as chairman. The profile of mental health care
has never been higher and there is a real passion across the health and care
system to transform how we care for vulnerable people, support them in their
recovery and improve their life chances. I am looking forward to joining the
trust, getting to know the staff, service users, carers and patients, and making
a real contribution to mental health care.”
The NHS Trust Development Authority has confirmed the appointment of Tom
Hayhoe as Chair of The West London Mental Health NHS Trust.
Non-executive appointments to NHS Trusts made by the NHS TDA are
subject to the Code of Practice of the Commissioner for Public Appointments.
Tom’s term of office will start on 1 April 2015 and end on 31 March 2017 and
