Applying for a position working as a personal assistant for the Sales & Marketing Manager Belle Vue Zoo, Gorton, Manchester following interview Sue was appointed. For anyone who remembers! Belle Vue which opened in 1836 it was an incredible Leisure complex, hosting, conferences, Banqueting concerts, theme park, Speedway & Stock Car racing as well as Brass Band Concerts. The Circus came to Belle Vue every year. The Sales Dept was responsible for group bookings along with meals & refreshments. This was to shape Sue’s career continuing within Sales & Marketing, Sue moved to Trust House Forte, Ladbrokes , K & B Screen printing. Latterly working in medical sales for SMA Nutrition, Heinz and Orion Pharmaceuticals. Why mention the above? The above experience adds another dimension to Sue’s skills as a full time coach. Sue has been able to engage children and adults from all walks of life to enjoy their pastime of playing tennis. Sue achieved coaching level 1 & 2 in the 70’s previously working in Rochdale, Oldham & Rossendale upgrading to a higher level of coaching Intermediate Coaching Award in 1986. Sue entered a Pernod Singles Ratings Event in the 80’s at Holcombe Brook. This led to Sue joining the tennis club . Sue upgraded to a higher level of coaching Intermediate Coaching Award in 1986 Sue commenced coaching part time at Holcombe Brook in the 90’s . . However the real challenge was to come when the management committee announced they were planning to relocate to a brand new site. Sue was appointed Head Tennis Coach in 2002 the objective to ensure the club would provide development pathways for anyone attending tennis coaching. Increase competitive opportunities. Sue’s rating in the 90’s was 3.1 not bad for a girl who grew up in the North. Joining Moston Tennis Club at the age of10. Moving to Fernlea & Werneth (Oldham) Very little coaching to begin with, dad in the park, somehow gave Sue the determination and the passion to succeed Decisions that impacted on Sue’s playing standards.
