Its purpose is to discuss relevant practical cases on successful use of intellectual property starting from relevant studies published recently published internationally. The event will gather one speaker for each article and will permit a debate between lawyers and economists on each of the topics addressed by the articles. To this end, there will be, for each article presentation, an Academic as discussant and an Academic as moderator, mostly from Bocconi University Law Department and other Bocconi University Departments. Colleagues from other interested areas will also be involved in the event and are mostly welcome. The expected, final result will be a real debate around each article presentation, rather than a mere sequence of lectures. This will allow to draw conclusions on best practices and the way forward for intellectual property protection and promotion, both for law and economics. 04 May 2015 20.00-22.00 Working Dinner 05 May 2015 09.00 Welcome and introduction Laurent Manderieux, Bocconi University Noël Campling, Director, IP Awareness, European Patent Office Chair: Noël Campling, Director, IP Awareness, European Patent Office First Session Chair: Laurent Manderieux, Bocconi University 09.30 Case study 1: Managing Intellectual Property Using Patent Pools: Lessons from Three Generations of Pools in the Optical Disc Industry Rudi Bekkers, Eindhoven University of Technology Moderators/ Discussants: Stefano Breschi, Bocconi University Angela Lupone, University of Milan Questions & answers 10.30 Case study 2: IP Models to Orchestrate Innovation Ecosystems: IMEC, a Public Research Institute in Nano-Electronics Wim Vanhaverbecke, Hasselt University Moderators/Discussants: Paola Cillo, Bocconi University Yane Svetiev, Bocconi University Questions & answers 11.30 Case study 3: Protecting Growth Options in Dynamic Markets: The Role of Strategic Disclosure in Integrated Intellectual Property Strategies Tilo Peters, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Lausanne (EPFL) Christopher L.
