STUDENT PROFILE
TAIJU SASAKI
Nationality: Japanese
Programme: A Levels
Have you enjoyed your college life at
Cambria College?
Meeting various types of people was
definitely an attractive part of college life at
Cambria College, especially my friends who
are keen on issues such as economics and
politics. They stimulated my intellectual
curiosity by getting me involved me in
many different activities. Furthermore I
liked the student community and network
of friends in different classes and subjects
which creates a friendly atmosphere at the
college.
How far have your progressed?
I started my course without any valid
certificate from the education system but I
ended up gaining my Level 3 qualification.
When I started my course, I didn’t know
how to write an academic essay but in the
second year I was able to participate in
rigorous academic discussions.
I very much like the way of teaching and
learning in my A Level courses. It involved a
lot of discussion and independent thinking
so that we can develop high academic
calibre and useful job skills such as drafting,
presentation, debating and writing skills. I
would greatly recommend this course for
all of those who want to go on to Higher
Education to maximise your potential.
22
“One of the most
brilliant and stunning
experiences of my
life.”
Throughout the course, I have had various
support. My Personal Tutor has given lots
of useful advice on university applications
and career choices. Also each subject tutor
has provided me with regular feedback
on assignments to check my academic
progress. The International Office has
supported me in many ways and given
me the opportunity to interact with other
international students.
What are your results (received or
predicted) and where will they take you?
What are your future plans? (Employment,
university etc)
I gained A*AA from Mathematics
(mechanics option), Sociology and Politics
from three full A Levels. I am going to
study International Relations at the London
School of Economics and Political Science.
Have you received any awards relating to
your studies at Cambria College and/or in
the community?
I received the Endeavour award for my
hard work in Politics in the first year.
