News Release:
RESULTS OF THE 2014-2015 DO RIGHT CHAMPIONS IN THE INTEGRATED ARTS
St Peter’s Private School, Scarborough R.C. and Fyzabad Secondary School emerged winners
from among the 31 Primary and Secondary schools that participated in the Integrity
Commission’s 2014-15 Do Right Champions competition in the Integrated Arts. Schools will be
advised on the date for the presentation of awards.
Through many engaging and creative performances, students and their teachers demonstrated an
understanding and application of Integrity in everyday life. Performances and works of Art shed
light on pertinent student related issues such as bullying in schools, stealing, cheating and the
right of students to learn in a safe environment without fear.
The annual competition sought to challenge students to compose, invent, design and perform
concepts on the topic of Integrity. Finals were held recently at the auditorium of the Rudranath
Capildeo Learning Resource Centre at Couva and at the Anne Mitchell-Gift auditorium of the
Scarborough Public Library. The adjudicators included nine persons eminent in education and
the Arts.
Students competed in the following areas:• An Integrated Arts Presentation on the theme of Integrity that included all elements of
Visual And Performing Art disciplines - Music, Visual Arts, Drama/Theatre Arts, and
Dance/Creative Movement.
• A Language Arts Portfolio that contained a variety of media including written pieces by
students and teachers of the process undergone while preparing for the presentations.
All of the subject areas are prominent in the national primary and secondary curricula including
the Continuous Assessment Component (CAC) of the Trinidad and Tobago Secondary Entrance
Assessment (SEA) at the primary level and the National Certificate of Secondary Education
(NCSE) at the secondary level.
The Integrity Commission launched the competition in September 2014 in collaboration with the
Ministry of Education and the Tobago Division of Education. The Commission sponsored a
series of workshops in all education districts during which time techniques in the Language,
Visual and Performing Arts as well as guidelines for the competition were provided to over 200
teachers.
