You can turn your vacation into an international
volunteer experience with the support of Western
University!
Western University is proud to announce its second
year of participation in the Leave for Change (L4C)
Program for 2015-2016!
This year, Western will be sponsoring 2 staff members to go abroad on
the Leave for Change program, to volunteer in developing countries, sharing
their knowledge and skills with others in an international setting.
Leave for Change Quick Facts:
#1: ACCESSIBLE The Leave for Change Program is open to all full-time
Western staff with at least one year of full-time service. To see if there is a
mandate that matches your professional skill set, check out the current positions
at www.leaveforchange.ca. * If you do not see a position that matches your skill
set, do not be discouraged. You are encouraged to apply anyway! Please tell us
what professional skills/ expertise you could contribute through a Leave for
Change experience and L4C will work to match you with an opportunity.
#2: FREE All you need to contribute is your vacation time. The cost of
participating (transportation, accommodation, vaccinations etc.) is covered
through an agreement between Western and the Leave for Change Program.
#3 WHEN Postings are between 3-4 weeks in length. The date of the mandate
depends on your time available and the needs of the organization that you will
work with overseas.
#4 WHERE Leave for Change offers volunteer experiences in 10 different
countries, including Africa, Latin America and Asia. Where you go depends on
the professional skills that you can offer, L4C priority areas, your interest and
language skills.
