Techniques for successful scale connectivity from traditional RS232 and RS485 serial
links to modern Ethernet sockets and USB options as well as popular field bus options
like Modbus and Ethernet IP and wireless options like Bluetooth and wifi.
In this talk, Darren will explore the various options available to the scale technician with
specific reference to the options available in the Rinstrum product line, particularly with
the introduction of open source programmability using Lua/Linux.

Rice Lake Weighing Systems
Jim will discuss some practical aspects of grounding: how it needs to be done for
scale and electronic systems and how to tell if it is done correctly or not. He will also
handle some of the safety aspects and a section on power issues, including RFI (radio
frequency interference), EMI (electromotive interference) and shielding.

indicators – and discuss troubleshooting techniques – communications and interfacing.
What is ISO/IEC 17025 Accreditation?
How Do We Sort Fact From Myth for Accredited Calibration Certificates?
Pamela Wright, Accreditation Manager, Calibration
American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA)
Pamela will discuss the differences between registration, certification and accreditation;
explore ILAC’s role in providing oversight for accreditation bodies; cover some basic
ISO/IEC 17025 requirements; and investigate common myths regarding accredited
calibration certificates.
How to Design and Engineer Your Own Solutions
