Position Summary:
The Senior Manager Fellow Support will manage, support and train groups of 5-7 Academic Coordinators
(ACs), and will be responsible for their leadership development and growth to ensure that Fellows create
tangible results in the classroom and grow as systemic leaders. The Academic Coordinator role is integral to
reaching Teach For Pakistan’s vision. Each Academic Coordinator is responsible for coaching, managing and
developing a team of Fellows. Their primary role is to maximize each Fellow’s leadership growth and create
results to build the movement of leaders that will end educational inequity.
The Senior Manager Fellow Support sets a vision for student achievement and Fellow development (across
classroom, schools and communities, self and country), coaches and manages Academic Coordinators (AC)
and collaborates with the local staff team to reach that vision. His/her primary role is to train, coach and
support ACs to maximize each Fellow’s leadership growth as we strive to build the movement of leaders that
will eliminate educational inequity. The Senior Manager will also be responsible for ensuring the
development of all content related curricula for Teach For Pakistan’s pre-service training, working closely
with the Director Participant & Alumni Impact to manage and coordinate on-going Fellow support
throughout the academic year, ensuring that timelines are met and all planning is progressing smoothly.
The Senior Manager Fellow Support role is suited for those who wish to make a critical impact on Academic
Coordinators, students, schools and Fellows across our cities, want to increase their vision setting, strategic
thinking, planning, curricular planning, adult training, team building, coaching and managing, influencing,
motivating and instructional skills, and are energized by working with an urgent, collaborative and highachieving team.
About Teach For Pakistan:
Teach For Pakistan is a leadership development Fellowship for outstanding graduates and young
professionals who commit two years to social change, transforming academic outcomes and life paths of
students in under-resourced schools. Upon completing their two-year commitment, Fellows graduate to
become Alumni, skilled and aware leaders of educational equity. In 2011, Teach For Pakistan inducted its first
cohort of 17 Fellows placing them in Karachi’s poorest classrooms. In 2014, Teach For Pakistan has 49
Alumni who have completed the Fellowship, and 65 Fellows in classrooms across Karachi and Lahore. Teach
For Pakistan is an initiative of the Aman Foundation and a partner of the international Teach For All network.
About the Participant & Alumni Impact team:
The Participant & Alumni Impact Team is responsible for developing and managing systems for:
1) Training and supporting Teach For Pakistan Fellows to perform as effective teachers in the classroom and
in the wider school environment;
2) Developing leadership capacities of Fellows;
3) Monitoring the performance of Fellows to continuously enhance impact on students;
4) Creating visions and strategies to fuel transformational change in communities across the country with
alumni leadership, clarifying and accelerating pathways to leadership, creating and executing forums for
advancing thinking on issues of educational equity, and establishing and encouraging meaningful ways to
connect and support each other;

5) Supporting Alumni in pursuing high impact careers in a range of other fields.
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Coach & Support Academic Coordinators:





Manage and train a group of 5-7 first- and second- year Academic Coordinators (ACs) and other
staff/Fellows to achieve ambitious student outcomes in their classrooms throughout the school year
Set ambitious community wide vision and goals for Academic Coordinator development, Fellow
development, Academic Coordinator group culture and impact based on high expectations for Academic
Coordinators, students, Fellows and external stakeholders, and coach ACs to do the same for their Fellows
group
Prioritize and plan support for ACs and Fellows across the city, including conceptualizing and leading
individual conversations, city-wide training sessions, group debriefs, and AC meetings
When necessary, providing support to Fellows and staff outside of the classroom on life issues such as
teamwork, emotional, wellbeing etc.
Manage and coach ACs through individual and group support, including classroom coaching, conversation
coaching, external trainings, group meetings and debriefs, and coach and train ACs to conduct effective
learning experiences for Fellows (including but not limited to individual observations debriefs, coobservations, external school visits, group debriefs, training sessions at conferences, co-planning, coteaching, leadership conversations, co-community visits and debriefs)
Build Culture based on Teach For Pakistan values:

Continuously invest ACs and Fellows in Teach For Pakistan’s culture, building a collaborative and
supportive network
Drive Results through Evidence based Training & Tools:





Collect and analyze relevant data or evidence (student data, Fellow Engagement Survey data, Principal
survey data, qualitative data from student work and other sources) to inform strategies to lead to the city
vision
Lead the research and development of the necessary tools and curriculum for Fellows and students
Support ACs to coach Fellows to design and execute Be The Change Projects addressing the biggest barriers
for their students
Coach ACs to influence Principals and other school teachers to have a strong vision for school culture and
achievement (and build Fellows’ skills for doing so), inform strategies to invest Principals and troubleshoot
school issues with ACs
Work with the Participants and Alumni Impact teams to create a vision and strategies for instruction and
Fellow Development
Institute & Pre-Service Training:





Own Institute planning and logistics: budget, timings, etc. Teach For Pakistan’s Summer Institute is
designed to give its Fellows the foundational knowledge and skills they need to become highly effective
teachers in challenging circumstances
Strike partnerships to execute Institute in a structured fashion
Manage the execution of Institute, including managing a high-performing Institute team and working with
Academic Coordinators and Director, Participants & Alumni Impact to execute all sessions
Ensure the day-to-day of institute is running well and troubleshoot as necessary
Liaise with other teams

Additional Responsibilities:


Support Recruitment & Selection cycles as a full time selector
Attend recruitment presentations, coffee chats, gatherings that help Teach For Pakistan connect
successfully to other stakeholders in the mission for education equity
Education and Experience:

this work. Here are some minimum qualifications we look for:




4 years of relevant experience
Bachelor’s Degree, Masters preferred
Teaching experience in a low-income school with a strong track record of building academics, values,
mindsets, and pathways to opportunity with students
Outstanding performance as a Coach (preferred)
Skills and Knowledge:
