Club Information 2015
Welcome to Season 2015. The following pages provide some background information on our
club, Knox Churches Soccer Club, to help you with how our club operates.
Knox Churches Soccer Club (KCSC)
KCSC competes in the Victorian Churches Football Association (VCFA) and all matches are
played on Saturdays. We are a division of the Knox Churches Sports Association which was
incorporated in 1999. The aim of our club is to bring glory to God by providing an opportunity
for all players to participate in soccer matches in a family friendly environment. Players are
encouraged to compete to their highest ability, regardless of their skill level. The club believes
in treating all members and players respectfully and equally and aims to achieve an
environment for personal development both through playing soccer and socially. Our Code of
Conduct is included in this document – please ensure that you familiarise yourself with this.
Home Ground
Our home ground is:
Knox Park
Obedience Dog Club entrance
Off Ferntree Gully Road, Knoxfield
(Melways 73 E6)
During season 2014 Knox Park had significant ground redevelopment occurring. Whilst it is
anticipated that the grounds will be ready for match play from the start of the season in April
2015, initial training may be undertaken at other venues to be determined.
Registration 2015:
There are 2 steps in the registration process for 2015. Firstly, there is the Knox Churches
Soccer Club (KCSC) registration process. Secondly, players will also be required to be
registered online with the Victorian Churches Football Association (VCFA).
Knox Churches Soccer Club (KCSC) Registration:
We are holding our club Registration day/night on WEDNESDAY 4th FEBRUARY at Knox Park
from 5pm to 8pm.
A registration form must be completed for each individual player. For players under the age of
18, the forms must be signed by a parent or guardian. Payment must also be made at the time
of registration*. Please refer to the registration forms for details required, payment methods
and the 2015 Fee schedule.
*Payment plans can be arranged with the club Treasurer and are handled with respect and
confidentiality. Agreements must be arranged and approved at or before registration. These
agreements must be strictly adhered to as agreed unless otherwise communicated with the
Treasurer. Failure to do so may result in no participation of training and matches.
Fees 2015:
A full schedule of Knox Churches Soccer Club registration fees for 2015 can be found at the
back of this document. Fees include the following:
Goalkick junior program
VCFA costs – team fees/referees/admin

*PLEASE NOTE – Player Injury Insurance is not provided by Knox Churches Soccer Club or the
Victorian Churches Football Association.
Victoria Churches Football Association (VCFA) registration:
Once the KCSC registration and payment has been completed, each player must also register on
the VCFA online registration system. The link to this registration and any specific details that
need to be entered will be emailed after the VCFA system is open for 2015 and the KCSC
registration approved. Note, the only payment is to Knox Churches Soccer Club – there is no
additional payment for the VCFA online registration as all costs are incorporated in our
registration fees.
Teams 2015:
Our club currently participates in the junior, men’s and ladies competitions of the VCFA. We also
run a skills based program called “Goalkick” for juniors aged 5-10 to gain confidence and basic
skills prior to registering with a junior team.
Junior teams:
Junior teams are mixed teams for boys and girls. Age groups are determined by the child’s age
on 1 January. Girls can play with a year’s leeway. For example, a player born in the year 2000
would normally play in an U15 age group in 2015. However, a girl born in that same year may
elect to play in an U14 age group in 2015 instead.

The club aims to field at least one team in every junior age group, if not more. Registrations
are generally accepted on a ‘first-come’ basis with preference given to club members from
previous seasons registered on or before registration day while positions remain vacant. Junior
team compositions will be made by the Executive Committee in consultation with the coaches
and coaching sub-committee. We will endeavour to place players in teams that they have
played in before and also accommodate special requests, to the best of our ability. In the event
that we cannot meet all requests, we would appreciate your understanding and working with us
to ensure that all players get an opportunity to play the game and enjoy the experience. Please
ensure that any requests to assist with team allocations is written in the ‘comments’ section of
your registration form. Once the team composition if confirmed, it may not be possible to
change.
Registrations are accepted on the basis that there is a commitment to the entire season in
regard to both training and matches. If there are any circumstances that this cannot be met,
the parent or player must inform the club. Preference must be given to those who can meet the
commitment required.
The club will be endeavouring to finalise the junior teams as soon as possible by early March
and you will be notified of your team, coach details and training times.
Ladies’ & Senior (Men’s) teams:
The VCFA has 2 ladies divisions and we intend to field two ladies team in 2015.
The club would encourage girls aged 14 and up to participate in the Ladies competition rather
than the juniors so we can continue to develop our ladies teams and meet team number
requirements. Eligible players may elect to play both juniors and ladies if they wish.
The VCFA has 7 to 8 men’s divisions and KCSC will aim to field 6 Senior (Men’s) teams in 2015
through a range of these divisions as assigned by the association.
Senior and Ladies teams for any given week are selected by the senior coaching/selection panel
and are generally based on: ability, team structure and availability. As we have teams in most
VCFA senior divisions ALL abilities are catered for.
Training:
Junior Training:
 Training times will be advised once teams are finalised and coaches appointed. It is
expected to be either a Tuesday or Wednesday night in 2015 depending on the
availability of the appointed coach and venue availability. Training sessions usually
commence at approximately 5:30/6pm for approximately 1 to 1½ hrs depending on the
age group and coach. Junior teams will generally finish their training sessions by 7pm.
 Parents are responsible for bringing their child/ren to their training sessions on time and
we would encourage all parents to remain at the training session where possible.
 Parents are to collect their children promptly at the end of the session.
 For younger age groups (U8-U11) children should be taken by a parent/carer to the
coach/team manager at the start of the session and collected from them at the end of
the session.
 Parents must be contactable at all times during their child’s training session
Senior and Ladies Training:
 Training times will be confirmed by the senior coaches, however generally senior
training takes place on Wednesday nights from 7pm to around 8:30-9:00pm.
 Pre-season training may be arranged. 2014 Registered Senior and Ladies players will
receive an email regarding these details.
Goal kick Program:
This is a basic skills program for young children aged 5 to around 10. It is designed for new
young players to develop their skills before competition play. It is run for approximately 16
weeks on Saturday mornings during school terms 2 and 3 (venue, dates & times to be
confirmed). Parents are strongly encouraged to participate with their children. Parents must
provide their child’s shin guards. Registration for the goalkick program is open at any time
before and during the season.
Saturday Competition:
All matches are played on Saturdays and are co-ordinated by the VCFA (Victorian Churches
Football Association). Fixtures, Results and Ladders and any other VCFA information can be
found on the VCFA website: http://www.foxsportspulse.com/assoc_page.cgi?assoc=8912
Junior Competition
 Junior matches are scheduled for play in the morning as per fixtures issued by the VCFA.
 The soccer season usually consists of around 16 to 18 rounds during Terms 2 & 3 (the
actual number of rounds will depend on each player group team numbers)
 Parents are responsible for transport arrangements for their child to and from their
match at times requested by their coach/team manager
 Coaches/team managers should confirm the match details with their team members at
training.
 Parents should advise the coach/team manager if their child is unable to play a match as
early as possible to enable the coach/team manager to assist with team numbers and to
organise any additional players if necessary.
 Parents are strongly encouraged to attend their child’s matches.
 Parents are responsible for applying first aid to their own child if the need arises.
 Where parents are unable to attend the match, they should arrange for their child be in
the care of another responsible adult.
 Parents must be contactable at all times during their child’s match.
Seniors & Ladies Competition
 Senior/Ladies matches are scheduled to play in the afternoon as per fixtures issued by
the VCFA
 The soccer season usually consists of around 16 league rounds & Cup rounds usually
starting around beginning April through mid-September
 Players are responsible for their own transport arrangements and to arrive at the match
at the time nominated by their coach/team manager
 Players will be notified of weekly team selection and match details by email, it is the
players responsibility to ensure that they are aware of which team they have been
selected in each week
 Players must advise the coach of the team last played in of their availability each week.
Wet Weather/Ground Conditions:
Unless otherwise notified, training and matches will take place. On occasions the club may
have to cancel training or matches if the ground conditions are particularly bad. The club will
notify the coaches as soon as possible if this happens. You should therefore check with your
coach/team manager if in doubt. Matches are rarely postponed but in the event that this
happens, you will be notified by your coach/team manager as soon as possible. It cannot be
guaranteed that you will be notified prior to arrival at a match or training session but every
effort will be made to contact you.
Opposition Club Grounds:
Most of the games are within the South and Eastern suburbs though there are some variations
and occasional further travel depending on the player group. Refer to the VCFA website for the
clubs that come under the auspices of the VCFA and the locations of those clubs.
Coach/Team Manager:
Each team must have a coach and a team manager. These positions are fulfilled on a voluntary
basis by parents and/or senior players.
An Expression of Interest for Coach has been emailed to members from last season and these
should be forwarded to the Coaching sub-committee who will make recommendations to the
committee for appointment.
Team managers essentially relieve the coach from the administration of a team. Team
managers should provide a roster for the washing of shirts, provide an avenue for
communication between the club and team members, and ensure each player is aware of the
location and time of matches. Please indicate on the registration form if you would like to be
considered for a team manager role.
Working With Children Checks:
It is a requirement that ALL coaches and team managers and any other volunteers working
directly with children have a valid Working with Children Check. Note, this also applies to any
Senior/Ladies coaches/team managers/volunteers as there are times when players are still
under the age of 18 playing and training with these teams. Forms to apply for this check are
available at the club or at Australia Post. There is no fee associated with this check for
volunteers and the forms can be lodged at your local Australia Post.
First Aid:
Our club has basic first aid kits available at training sessions and matches at our home ground
for application by the parent/player if over 18. It is not the responsibility of the club or club
officials to administer first aid. If in doubt an ambulance should be called.
Uniform/Merchandise:
Players (or parents) are responsible for providing their own boots (metal studs are prohibited)
and shin guards. Club shorts and club socks are also the responsibility of the player/parent.
These are to be purchased through the club only as these items have our club logo on them.
Other supporter items are also available for purchase.
Mandatory items for players include: Club shorts, club socks, soccer (football) boots, shin
guards.
NOTE: The previous style with the blue triangle are no longer allowed for matches – ALL
players must now wear the current Black Club shorts with the club logo.
Player shirts are supplied by the club via the team manager. Player shirts must be kept as a set
throughout the season. Team managers will arrange for these to be washed after each match,
usually through a roster system amongst the team members. Player shirts remain the property
of the club and must be returned to the club at the end of each season.
Players/parents are encouraged to donate any unwanted clean boots that are still in reasonable
condition to the club. This enables others to purchase these for a very small fee which goes
back to the club.
Club Assistance.
As well as coaching and team managing as indicated above, the club has many other areas
where help is welcomed. The club runs a canteen every Saturday morning. Proceeds from this
help keep the fees as low as possible. We require parents to help out for a ½ hour stint or two
during the season by rostering them on. If you are also able to help out further with managing
the canteen for a couple of hours on occasions, the club would like to hear from you. Any other
areas where you can use your skills to assist the club are welcome, please indicate this on the
registration forms or advise the committee.
Rebel Sports Season Pass:
If you hold a Rebel Sports Season Pass, there is an option to link it to our club. By doing this,
the club will receive a % of your purchases as a rebate which in turn helps with equipment and
other items. Contact Rebel Sports to sign up for their Rebel Sports Season Pass is you don’t
have one – it is free to join.
Social Events & Fundraising:
Our main source of fundraising is a Trivia Night (date to be confirmed for 2015). This is a social
night but also raises funds specifically for club development in order to improve the facilities of
the club. Social events may be organised throughout the season for the Seniors/Ladies and
team managers are welcome to organise social activities for their team – sometimes this can
take the place of training to develop team spirit.

is no cost to download this app. This also links to the VCFA Fox Sports Pulse website providing
access to fixtures and ground locations.
Email is the most speedy and effective means of communication either directly from the
committee or via the coaches/team managers. Please ensure that your email address is clearly
printed on the registration form and please keep us up to date of any changes. Newsletters are
also distributed via email periodically. Please keep a regular check on your email inbox.

Coaches Code of Conduct
Make a personal commitment to keep yourself informed of sound coaching principles for the
growth and development of your players
Be reasonable in your demands on young player’s time, energy and enthusiasm.
Teach your players that rules of the game are mutual agreements which no one should
evade or break.
Ensure that each player has an opportunity to contribute to the team.
Remember that players play for fun and enjoyment and that winning is only part of their
motivation. Never ridicule or yell at the players for making mistakes or losing a competition.
Ensure that the equipment and facilities meet safety standards and are appropriate to the
age and ability of the players.
The scheduling and length of training and competition should take into consideration the age
and maturity levels of the players.
Develop team respect for the ability of opponents as well as for the judgement of officials and
opposing coaches.
Follow the advice of a physician when determining when an injured player is ready to
recommence play.

Play for the “fun of it” and not just to please parents, friends or coaches.
Play by the rules – be competitive but do not be unfair or unsportsmanlike
Never argue with an official. If you disagree, have your captain or coach approach the
official during a break or after the game.
Control your anger. Verbal abuse of officials or other players, deliberately fouling or
provoking
an opponent and throwing equipment is not acceptable or permitted in any sport or our
club.
Work equally hard for yourself and for your team. Your team’s performance will benefit, so
will you.
Be a good sport. Cheer and encourage all good players whether they be your team or the
other team.
Treat all players as you would like to be treated. Do not interfere with, bully or take
advantage of another player.
Co-operate with your coach, team-mates and opponents. Without them there would be no

If children are interested, encourage them to play. However, if a child is not willing, do not
force him or her to play.
Focus upon the child’s efforts and performance rather than the overall outcome of the
event. This assists the child in setting realistic goals related to their ability, by reducing the
emphasis on winning.
Teach children that an honest effort is as important as victory, so that the result of each
game is accepted without undue disappointment.
Encourage children to always play according to the rules.
Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or for being part of losing a game.
Remember children are involved in organised sport for their enjoyment, not yours.
Children learn best from example. Applaud good plays by both teams.
If you disagree with an official, raise the issue through the appropriate channels rather than
question the official’s judgement and honesty in public. Remember, most officials give their
time and effort for your child’s involvement.
Verbal and physical abuse are not acceptable on or off the field.
Recognise the value and importance of volunteer coaches. They give up their time and
resources to provide recreational activities for the children and they deserve your support.
We play for the ENJOYMENT and FUN of the sport.
We play competitively BUT we play FAIRLY.
Blasphemy or offensive language is not acceptable in this club, on or off the field.
