The course will increase your confidence in using English in both a personal and professional context. You will build awareness of a range of classroom teaching techniques and materials, and apply these insights to your own teaching situations. You will prepare for the Cambridge ESOL Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT), enabling you to gain an internationally recognised teaching qualification, enhancing your job prospects and providing a stepping stone to higher qualifications. Course dates TKT Module 1: TKT Modules 2 & 3: 2 – 13 July 2012 (2 weeks) 16 – 27 July 2012 (2 weeks) 20 hours of tuition per week. Participants can study one course only (2 weeks) or both courses (4 weeks). Entry Requirements Intermediate level English – B1 level or IELTS 4.5 Previous English Language teaching experience is strongly recommended. Our TKT Preparation Course is for new and experienced teachers of primary, secondary or adult learners of English, anywhere in the world. TKT Preparation Course 2012 TKT Preparation Course for English Language Teachers Stevenson College Edinburgh TKT Preparation Course 2012 Social / Cultural Programme Course participants can choose to join the Summer School social / cultural programme, which gives students the opportunity to visit places of historical and cultural importance in and around the city, as well as a chance to experience Edinburgh’s great entertainment scene. The Social Programme includes 2 afternoon activities and 1 evening activity per week, plus 1 full-day Saturday excursion every 2 weeks. The programme may include visits such as Edinburgh Castle, Holyroodhouse or the Botanic Gardens; attending some of the exciting cultural and entertainment events in Edinburgh such as concerts, musical and the theatre; dance at a Ceilidh (an evening of traditional Scottish music and dance); enjoying a full day trip to the fine renaissance Palace at Falkland and the seaside town of Saint Andrews; or Loch Lomond and Glasgow. Accommodation The College can arrange homestay accommodation with local hosts. Homestay provides participants with the opportunity to practise speaking English and learn more about Scottish and British life outside the classroom. There are two types of homestay available: Single room, half board (breakfast and evening meal included): Single room, self catering (you will prepare your own meals): £135 / week. £90 / week. Course fees Tuition only: £580 for 2 weeks, £940 for 4 weeks Tuition plus social programme: £690 for 2 weeks, £1,160 for 4 weeks If you are a teacher from within the EU you may be eligible for Comenius funding.
