WHY STUDY THE PROGRAMME?
The Master’s degree full-time study programme
Physics is of 2 years and consists of 120 ECTS. Students complete their studies in one of two possible
branches: Fundamental or Applied Physics. The main part
of study programme is implemented in the Faculty of Science
and Technology, which has a variety of classrooms and the
number of workplaces there as well as the equipment and
the conditions provided there are sufficient and perfectly
suitable to the study programme to be implemented. Next
to the training laboratories, there are preparatory and subjectrelated methodological rooms with scientific, methodological
literature, teaching aids and computers.
Students make use of this literature and rich teaching
materials and handouts. Besides, the Institute for Scientific
Research operates with the most modern equipment to investigate physical and technological phenomena, which is
used by students to carry out their scientific research practice and to prepare their research works and Master thesis.
Students have an opportunity for academic exchange
programme. In addition to the usual Erasmus+ agreements,
the university has concluded 10 more corperation agreements with foreign universities.
Teachers from foreign countries also shared their experiences. The study programme of Physics distinguishes
itself by the fact that its graduates can successfully work not
only in general education schools or gymnasiums, but also
in colleges and universities as well as other fields of education or scientific work.
WHAT WILL YOU STUDY AND ACHIEVE?
The Physics Master programme in its full-time form has
4 semesters of 20 weeks. The first three semesters consist
of subjects that are in line with fundamental or applied Physics
branches. They are designed for insight and a deeper understanding of the branch being studied. The content of study
subjects are distributed so that students would not be much
overloaded, but have more freedom to work independently.
The study process is composed of lectures, practical and
laboratory works. The topics of which are related to the latest researches and the latest literature. Upon receipt of material for self-studies and practical tasks, the students have
opportunities to study on individual basis. The 4th semester
is entirely devoted to the final Master thesis preparation.
As the thesis is considered to be a key issue in this
programme, therefore its preparation starts during the second semester. During the first stage, preliminary scientific
information is selected, the problem, relevance, research
object, objective and tasks must be formulated, and the plan
of research work must be made. During the second stage
(semester 3) it is required to present research methodology,
to specify and revise key formulation indicated in the first
stage, some preliminary calculations or experiments must
be done. The third stage (final work) is intended for calculations (estimates), research and development, presentation
of research results, and formulation of justified conclusive
findings. The final stage of research paper encompasses all
supplemented and revised results of the previous stages.
