Library Technician Diploma. 2. Public library experience is an asset. 3. Demonstrated familiarity with MS Office, computers and smart devices. Familiar with social networks and usage. 4. Supports patron access to the library's resources by: Advising and assisting library users in the selection of materials and explaining the arrangement of the resources of the library. Providing research and resource assistance to the public including reference and reader’s advisory for all ages. Performing simple troubleshooting on computers. Providing instruction to patrons on using various electronic resources and devices. Creating patron accounts, troubleshooting patron accounts and introducing customers to library services in general including borrowing services. Receiving money and making change. Running standard reports. Performing opening and closing routines. 2. Assist Service Delivery Managers by: Researching, preparing and submitting reports, statistics and budget requirements when requested. Developing and maintaining tools to assist patrons in accessing collection materials. Reading book reviews and keeping informed of new materials added to the collection and new resources available outside of the library. 3. Program Responsibilities Plans and carries out programs for all ages. May have outreach responsibilities. Works in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and municipal, provincial and federal privacy legislation. Performs other duties as assigned. WORKING CONDITIONS: This is a system-side shift position that may be assigned at any Barrie Public Library location. 2 JOB POSTING: PUBLIC SERVICE FACILITATOR June 9, 2015 This is a public service position and the hours of work may include evenings and weekends with the employee being required to perform accurate and detailed work with constant interruptions. Must be able to withstand the physical demands of the job (i.e. programming, active reference service).
