April 2015 Volume 2, Issue 4 Locust Hill Baptist Church Message from the Pastor . “He is not here; for He is risen, as He said.” These words from the angel in Matthew 28:6 forever changed history. News spread quickly that Jesus Christ had defeated death. Sin would not have the last word. Disease would not have the last word. Satan would not have the last word. God would have the last word through the death, burial, and victorious resurrection of His Son and our King! I hope that you will come and worship Sunday April 5 at 10:45 as we celebrate a Living Savior. It is an exciting time at Locust Hill. This month, we will welcome 3 new members to our staff leadership team. We look forward to see how God is going to use this new team for His glory! We have also launched our new church website. Please visit us online at www.locusthillchurch.org. I encourage you to continue in our Journey Through the New Testament. In March, we completed the Four Gospels. Now would be a great time to jump in if you have gotten behind and begin fresh in the book of Acts. Let’s continue to live out our theme verse for 2015 from Acts 4:31 – “When they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God with boldness.” As a church family, let’s continue to dig into the life-changing Word of God, let’s stay on our knees before the Lord, let’s continue having times of weekly family worship, and let’s look with anticipation at how God is going to use us for the glory of His Name! I desire that this ministry be a PURPOSE DRIVEN youth ministry that focuses on 5 key areas: evangelism, worship, fellowship, discipleship, & ministry/missions. I strongly believe in the statement “what you draw them with is what you draw them to.” I believe in drawing the students with God’s Word- the ONLY thing that has the power to change lives. Julie Cannon Join us on Wednesday Nights @ 6:30 pm as we focus on Developing Habits that will have a lasting impact: April 1st: Accountability April 8th: Planting God's Word in Your Life April 15th: Involving Yourself in the Church April 22nd: Money, Tithing, God and Me April 29th: Studying Scripture COMING SOON will be a May through August calendar of events. I hope that students will join us for fellowships, mission projects, and Bible Study all summer long as we seek to grow closer together and most importantly closer to Christ. Easter and Spring are here! Let’s show God how thankful we are for His great sacrifice and amazing love by making this the year that we put Christ “First” in our families at Locust Hill. The world thinks we should put ourselves and our OWN pleasures first. Let’s show our community “What Christian Parenting” is and how “Christ First Families” live. Is it just bringing them to church for a few hours on Sunday and Wednesday nights? Nothing could be more wrong! It has a different motive, a different goal, and the good Lord willing- a different outcome. 4 Distinctive Marks of Christian Parenting: 1.Christian parents seek to model the gospel. Deuteronomy 6:4-9 2.Christian parents value and protect the sanctity of Christian marriage 3.Christian parents see their children as blessings 4.Christian parents desire that Jesus captivate their children’s hearts *One question we must wrestle with is, “How much of Christ do we want to see our children possess?” *Enough to lead them to an obscure mission field? *Enough to compel them to give all they possess to the needy and the forgotten? *Enough of Christ to have a boldness that some might consider fanatical or that might lead to persecution? Christ isn’t calling our children and us to an easy belief that affects a small part of our lives. He calls us to pick up our cross and follow him (Matthew 16:24), being completely consumed by Him. Let’s make Easter 2015 a day that we start making Christ the most important part of our families lives here at Locust Hill not just today but every day from now on!
