In addition to substantial

Special Olympics a “Core Initiative” for
Heart of the Community Program
One of the six “core initiative” within the Moose
Fraternity’s Heart of the
Community program is
Special Olympics. Thanks
to support from the
Moose, Special Olympics
North American has
hosted an invitational softball event each year since
2009. Participation ranged
from 20 teams in the initial
year to 32 at its largest and
continues to grow.
“There was no stand-alone
softball event in Special
Olympics until the Moose
got involved,” Moose International Director of Activities Shawn Baile said.
“We have had a hand in
Membership
Campaign
that there are so many
things in Special
Olympics that make it
worthwhile,” Baile
said. “The athletes not
only have a desire to
win, but they also pull
for the other guy, even
if it’s their opponent.
I’ve seen athletes high
-five an opponent who
hits a home run. You
definitely cover the
full range of emotions
in seven innings of a
Special Olympics softball game, there’s no
doubt about it.”

From the Desk of the Administrator,
As we head out of Winter, we also approach the close of the
Moose year– April 30th. At this writing, the Lodge is 47 short of
the assigned quota of 230. With your help, we can achieve this
goal. Incentives for the sponsors are many.
1) You can save your candidates the $20.00 enrollment fee as
Moose International is waiving $10.00 of the fee through April
30, 2015. The officers of this lodge with membership approval
have waived $10.00 of a new member’s or re-enrolling members enrollment fee.
2) The Alaska Hawaii Moose Association will award a $25.00
gift certificate for items in the Moose Catalog, for every 5
members singed and enrolled.
3) Receive $5.00 Moose Bucks to spend in the lodge for every
new or re-enroll member you sign up.
4) The Lodge will award the top sponsor a 70” flat screen TV or a

Moose Legion Upcoming Events

Hello everyone, I hope everyone is enjoying
our warm weather we've been having, hopefully it's 
a sign of an early spring. We have a few things
coming up the next couple months. Our next Moose
legion meeting is March 1st. We have our Easter/
Winter carnival coming up April 5th from 2 to 4 pm. We always
need volunteers for that day, it's pretty busy. Our Moose Legion
quarterly is coming up on April 11-12 in Kenai. That's always a
lot of fun and I encourage everyone to make the trip if you can. 
And last but not least if anyone is considering running for a
Mount McKinley Moose Legion office, they should check with

Terry and plan on being in Kenai. I look forward to seeing you
all in Kenai, but until then don't forget to thank your volunteers
and do something to get involved yourself, you'll be amazed at
how much fun it really is. Thank you.

Fraternally yours, Alan AuBuchon

Nominations are open for the Lodge Officers for the 2015-2016
year. Nominations are open for the following offices: Governor, Jr.
Governor, Prelate, Treasurer and 3 year Trustee. Who is eligible to be a
Lodge Officer? The only requirements for the office of Treasurer and
Trustee are that the member must be in good standing. For the office of
Prelate and Jr. Governor, membership of at least six months duration in
the Lodge is required. For Governor, the member must have served in
another elected office (not a combination of offices) in this Lodge for a
full 12 month term. Nominations forms may be obtained from Administrator. Nominations close March 24, 2015. (Your participation in the
election is important.) Election of Officers will be held April 14, 2015
@ 6:30pm.
Thanks to the Moose Legion Committee and the WOTM Chapter 139
volunteers for your dedication on Monday nights. Your hard work has
given us the best ever Super Bowl party.
My heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the out going Lodge and Chapter
Officers. Your dedication and leadership made for a great year. It was a
pleasure working with you.
As you go through this issue you can’t help but notice there are many
events planned for March and April. These are great opportunities to
show a prospective new members some of what goes on in our Lodge
and become a member for only $55.00.

Thank you to the LOOM & WOTM
who donated to the Rocker Fundraiser
in the month of February. All the monies raised on this fundraiser will be
used for Moosehaven events etc. To
make things fun, our very own Kim
Deitz dressed up in her best granny
suite. Anyone who wanted to dance
with granny had to donate. We
brought in $230.00 in one night! The
LOOM and WOTM will split the total
for the month and will send their donations to Moose Charities.
Members– If you would like the lodge
to have an emergency contact for you,
please call the office and we will put it
in your membership record.
Thank You Members to another

WOTM Chapter #139 News
First off, congratulations to Dolores
Jones on attaining her Green Cap!
It’s a tremendous achievement that
followed a lot of hard work. Likewise, congratulations to Vanessa
DeBrill for being selected as Volunteer of the Year for WOTM. I’m
sure you’ve all seen her working
away in the kitchen during dinners
for the men and on Snack Sunday
for the Health Awareness Committee. She saves us from popcorn
every weekend!
Is anyone else getting itchy palms
and fondling seed catalogs? It sure
feels like spring is in the air, and it’s
so nice not to drive to work in the
dark! Of course, we still have
March to get through. Luckily, we’ll
have the $5000 drawing on March
21st to look forward to – your $50.00
ticket gets you TWO fabulous feeds
of barbeque, as well as a chance to
win a bundle of money. The WOTM
will be selling 50/50 tickets and rippies as well, so you can triple up
your chance to win and support the
WOTM.
Our Winter Carnival will be held
April 5. Be sure to come by, and
bring your kids! It’s always so much
fun, and I’m sure this year will be
even better, since Jr. Regent Colleen
is a most excellent party planner.
And, of course, the Easter Bunny will
be here, along with hundreds of

A Word from Our Governor
Wow, how time flies by. It’s
hard to believe that a full year
has almost gone by since I became governor of the lodge. It
has been somewhat of a stressful thing at times, but it has
been very rewarding also. As
most of you know nominations
for board members is now
open for the upcoming year. I
would like to encourage anyone who would like to get
more involved with the operations of the lodge to put their
name in for one of the open
offices. All you have to do is
stop by the office and see BJ
or Heather. They can let you
know what officer positions

are open and give you the necessary paper work. Also, don’t
forget that we have the winter
carnival and Easter celebration
coming up for the kids and we
will be needing volunteers to
help. In closing most of you
know I lost my mother the 11th
of February. I would like to
say thank you to all those who
gave their condolences and
who helped with the celebration of life, and anything else
that was needed. Again Thank
You everyone.
Fraternally,
