TND Program Evaluation VISTA The Neighborhood Developers

TND Program Evaluation VISTA
The Neighborhood Developers (TND) is a non-profit community development corporation working to
revitalize Chelsea and Revere, MA by building affordable housing, promoting economic empowerment,
and supporting community building through organizing. We are currently seeking an outstanding
individual to provide one year of service as a TND Program Evaluation VISTA, serving as a full-time
employee beginning August 2015.
TND believes great neighborhoods empower people to grow and prosper. We help make neighborhoods
great by undertaking fine grained revitalization work in distressed neighborhoods while expanding
housing choices in stronger neighborhoods to build equitable communities. As part of our work, we
develop and manage our own portfolio of rental properties that are home to approximately 1,000
residents. We are committed to ensuring that residents in TND-owned properties have access to the
resources they need to thrive. The TND Program Evaluation VISTA will be responsible for developing
financial literacy and EOL programs to deliver in TND-owned properties and recruit volunteers to
implement the programs. The VISTA will also support our evaluation efforts by evaluating the
effectiveness of the newly developed programming; researching the impact of home-based services vs.
CONNECT-based services, and understanding the appeal to our residents; and testing the impact of
property-based services on tenant payment history and on tenure of tenancy.
AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) provides full-time volunteers to nonprofit, faithbased and other community organizations to create and expand programs that bring low-income
individuals and communities out of poverty. Compensation is paid directly to VISTA in the form of a
living allowance from AmeriCorps VISTA. The amount of the living allowance is $1,222 per month for the
Boston area. At the end of the term of service, an education award of $5,730 or cash stipend of $1,500
may be provided. For more information about AmeriCorps VISTA, see
