IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Skater Behavior and conduct: Being a figure skater is a privilege. The MFSC has adopted the USFS
“SafeSport” Guidelines. This includes our locker room policy, & Skater and Parent Code of Conduct. Our
policies should be reviewed with your skater at our website: www.mentorfsc.org. Skaters enrolled in clinics
and off-ice sessions as well as ice sessions need to be respectful of coaches, monitors, instructors and other
skaters and students. If skaters become disruptive during an on-ice clinic or session or off-ice class, they will
be asked to leave. There will be no refunds due to mis-conduct.
Ice Rules: Please review our current ice rules and etiquette policy on our website www.mentorfsc.org.
Supervision: The Mentor Figure Skating Club is an organization that promotes the discipline of figure
skating to individuals of all ages, with membership primarily under the age of 18 year of age. The MFSC and
ice monitors cannot be responsible for skaters left at the rink un-attended. The Mentor Civic Arena has a
general rule that a child under the age of 13 be supervised by an adult or older child. The Civic Arena offers a
wonderful summer camp program to supervise your child while not on the ice. Summer camp details are
found below and can be tailored to meet your individual needs.
City of Mentor’s Summer Figure Skating/Hockey Camp program: This program is designed to supervise
your child before, during and after skating and can be tailored to fit your skater’s needs. The camp will be
offered daily - Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. The program will have qualified counselors
and Jr. Counselors doing fun and exciting activities to help make your child's day a fun and happy one.
Signup can be by partial day, day or by week and can be prorated based on time spent on club sessions,
clinics, and classes. For more specifics, contact Holly Maher at the Mentor Civic Arena at 440-974-5730.
SPECIAL DEALS FOR SUMMER
Both SASS and MINI SASS programs are designed for our skaters to achieve success on the
ice. Success can only happen with learning and practicing skills on the ice, reinforcing the
skills with on ice clinics, practicing skills off ice, building a strong body including core,
learning body awareness, understanding rhythm and timing, and allowing the body to flow
with different styles of music.
MFSC would like to encourage our skaters to spend at least 3 hours a day 2 days a week with
us this summer, taking lessons, clinics, and classes.
With our goal and your personal one in mind we are offering discounts for those skaters who
want to take their skating to the next level. Try it and see the difference.
SASS: SUPER LOW PRICE SESSIONS: Back again this year: our SASS Program, an
all-inclusive package. You can skate any eligible ice sessions, clinics, and/or classes for one
low price. That is over ½ off the cost of everything for the summer - no kidding! No need

Off Ice classes will not be eligible for exchange credits.
Please ensure you do not have lessons scheduled with your coach at the same time as
your Off-Ice Class.
MFSC Updated Exchange Policy: Beginning June 2015
Summer 2015: MFSC has adopted a new exchange policy to automatically receive exchange credits when
absent from your contracted skating session (assuming credits are eligible—see below). We have eliminated
our phone service beginning May 3. This means that if your skater misses a session they will automatically
receive credits for their sessions, clinics, or classes if applicable. You will still need to contact your coach
directly to cancel private lessons.
Please be aware of our current Ice session rules that may affect your skater with our updated exchange
policy: On a potentially full ice session, skaters who are contracted for that session have first priority to skate
on it, provided they arrive within the first 15 minutes of the session. Walk-on skaters have priority, based on
the time that they check in with the monitor, requesting to skate on that session. On a full session, if a
contracted skater has not checked in by the time the session begins, a walk-on skater may take the ice, and
skate that session. If the contracted skater arrives before the 15-minute time limit, they may take the ice, and
the walk-on skater must leave the session. No charge will be made to the walk-on skater. If a contracted
skater arrives after the 15-minute time limit, and is closed out of their session, they will be issued exchange
credits. Reasonable effort will be made by the Monitor of that session to see if contracted skaters are present.
Summer 2015 will allow each skater to request any day(s) they will not be attending ahead of time. All
requested credits will be available on June 8th, the first day of the summer contract and will allow skaters all
summer to use those credits (all credits EXPIRE at the end of the summer contract). You may request your
credits for day(s) on the Pricing Sheet of your contract. All requests must be received by the Ice
Administrator in writing or via email (drdicola@sbcglobal.net) and must be received by May 30. Otherwise,
our normal exchange policy applies.
Guidelines for Requesting and Utilizing credits








Credits must be taken or used for the entire scheduled Ice session or On Ice Clinic.
Due to the low cost of our Off-Ice Classes, they will not be eligible for exchange credits (Ballet High
& Jump excluded).
Credits may only be requested earlier in the week in person with the monitor during the week
(beginning Sunday) of your session. There is no pulling forward from a future week.
All exchange credits EXPIRE at the end of the current contract period (no carry-overs).
Separate Exchange Forms will be used for clinics and ice session exchanges (kept in Exchange
Book).
Ice session 60 minute exchanges earn 4 credits for each session or 6 credits if 90 minute session.
On-Ice 30 minute clinic exchanges earn 2 credits;
Off-Ice Specialty Class (Ballet High and Jump Class) exchanges earn 2 credits.
Our club phone answering machine will be removed May 3
