Education Evaluations: Is there any consistency for student growth? Imagine a teacher asking at the beginning of the school year, “Is my student growth goal for this year sufficient to receive the highest ranking on the growth portion of my evaluation IF I meet my goals?” According to the American Institute of Research (AIR), over 60% of states across the nation answer these two questions by utilizing a process involving Student Learning Objectives (SLOs). This session will present the basics for what are SLOs, why would we use them and how do other states uses SLOs (best practices). Presenters: Doug Greer & Nick Kalakailo 11:30—12:15 P.M. M-STEP: An update on the progress of this year’s assessment This session will provide an update on how M-STEP testing has been going so far in Michigan and will provide insight into what next year may look like. Information will be presented on the outcome of the RFP for next year’s assessment, as well as information on the transition to SAT for 11th graders.
