FROM THE PRINCIPAL:
Our Boosterthon Run was a huge success. Thank you for your
support in this event. Some of the funds from this fundraiser
will go to putting in a smaller basketball court to be used in
PE for specific skills. When not in use by our PE Department,
it will be available for recess play as well. We are also wanting
to make some playground improvements for the children. More
information to come on these improvements.
As we wind down our school year, I want to take a moment to
thank all of our students, parents, teachers and staff for creating
a learning environment that puts children first. I am
amazed every day at the commitment of everyone.
I would also like to remind everyone that we still
have eight weeks left to learn. So, let’s continue to
have that Growth Mindset, get to school on time,
and enjoy our time together.
Counselors’ Corner
Career Vehicle Day is Wednesday, May 20. We are looking for
presenters who use a vehicle as part of their career and would
like to participate in the Vehicle Day for our kindergarten, first
and second grade students. Career Vehicle Day will give our
K - 2 students an opportunity to increase their awareness of
careers in a way that is developmentally appropriate for them.
If you are interested in participating or have questions, contact
Krisy Mills (kmills@lexington1.net)

PLEASE NOTE:
REGISTER YOUR CHILD FOR 2015-2016
We will not have
a Collaborative
Planning day on
April 29th.
The district will
utilize this day
for ACT Aspire
testing
purposes.
Meadow Glen Elementary School is
registering NEW students for 4K, 5K, and
NEW First Grade for the 2015-2016
School Year from 7:30 am to 3:30pm.
You must have the following items
with you in order to register your child:
Current electric/water bill
(address zoned for MGES)
Child's long birth certificate
Child's immunization record
Parent driver's license
FROM THE NURSEParents, please remind your children of ways they can stay healthy at school. They should always be washing their hands with
soap and water after using the restroom, before lunch and after coughing or sneezing. Also, please encourage your child to eat
breakfast every morning.. Your child should stay home if they are feeling ill. If your child has a fever over 100 or have had
diarrhea or vomiting within 24 hours they should remain home. This helps prevent the spreading of illness in the classroom.

to 5/11
Recycle Gently Worn Shoes!
In the US alone, approximately 630 million
pairs of shoes are thrown away per year.
MGES is keeping old shoes out of local landfills. Shoes
are created from chemical compounds that will create
health hazards if left to disintegrate
openly or in landfills. The used shoes
will also raise funds for Keep America
Beautiful to fund litter prevention,
recycling and beautification.
STEM items needed
(Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math): We could
use some garden tools and potted Yellow Jessamine (The
SC state flower). Also, we appreciate donations at any time
of the following items (clearly marked “STEM Lab”): Toilet
paper tubes, bird items (feeders, houses, books or seed),
kid friendly building products (like Legos, Jenga, Marbles
tubes or marbles), checkers or chess sets, pickup sticks, fish
bowls, aquarium heaters, and aquariums/ accessories.
First in Math Update:
We are getting close to the end of the 3rd
Nine Weeks. We will award the class with
the most math problems solved and the
highest numbers of stickers earned at the
end of the nine weeks. The teacher with the highest
class total will also be recognized with a duty free
lunch and recess. So far this year, our
Explorers have solved 1,677,093 problems and
earned 559,031 stickers! We have some exceptional
Mathematicians at the Meadow. Keep up the great
work!
