change their mindsets as cleaning is not
only the responsibility of safai
karamcharis. The ambitious drive
includes sweeping, removal of garbage,
debris and unauthorised encroachments from the roads, markets and
residential places. The campaign is aimed at making India a clean country
by 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
The Prime Minister on Independence Day made a clarion call for Swachh
Bharat, a massive mass movement to create awareness of cleanliness and
hygiene. He said that a clean India is the best tribute that we can pay to

A division bench of Justice impressed with the success of
the Pune model sought to replicate it in all cities in
Maharashtra. A public interest litigation was filed by NGO
Miloon Saryajani for direction to PMC to provide and
maintain in proper and convenient locations latrines,
privies and urinals and other similar conveniences for the
ladies in Pune urgently.
PM Shah Foundation conducted a survey in city schools
asking them what defined quality education and majority
of them replied that 100% results in board examinations
defined quality. None of the schools paid attention to the
cleanliness of their premises, sanitation facilities or even
hygiene of the students. So the foundation planed to take up
nine schools in a year and the volunteers will got to these
schools on a fixed day in a week and educate the students
on cleanliness and hygiene.
