Hornsby/Ku-ring-gai Women’s Shelter As mentioned in a previous column, the shelter is now open and receiving clients. Regrettably the need for support for women suffering from domestic violence appears to be great in the local area. The shelter is seeking assistance from the community with fundraising as well as volunteers. Nearly 12,000 properties are now identified as being bushfire prone on this draft map, which is on public exhibition between 17 April and 28 May. We have used the latest guidelines from the Rural Fire Service to prepare the map, which can be viewed at www.kmc.nsw.gov.au/exhibition, libraries or our customer service centre at Gordon if you are interested in commenting. ANZAC Day film screening We are hosting a free screening of a thought-provoking documentary about Gallipoli on Saturday 25 April at the Wildflower Garden. The film is called Gallipoli; the front line experience and captures the thoughts and emotions of Turkish and Australian troops during the landings.
