(April 23, 2015) ⎯ The Minnesota Health Action Group announced today that Omada Health has been chosen as the winner of the 2015 Minnesota Health Action Group Innovation th Award. The winner was chosen during the Innovator’s Showcase at The Action Group’s 8 Annual Employer Leadership Summit on April 17. This is the second year for the award. Omada Health is a digital health company that inspires people to change the habits that put them at risk for serious but preventable chronic diseases like Type 2 diabetes and heart disease. The Innovator’s Showcase, introduced in 2014, featured five health care start-ups whose leaders demonstrated their creative products and services to the audience of Summit attendees. The audience, made up of major health care purchasers, health care providers, and Minnesota business leaders, selected the winner. “This year’s Employer Leadership Summit was all about looking at health care challenges and strategies in fresh ways,” said Carolyn Pare, president and CEO of The Action Group. “Omada Health, with its Prevent program, and the other Showcase presenters, shared dynamic approaches that have the potential to spark system-wide improvements in health care. It’s critical to recognize the value of these forward-thinking entrepreneurs in our collective efforts.” Dave Dickey, CEO of Second Story Sales, served as moderator for the Showcase, which also included presentations from David Rachie, Adestinn; Dallen Allred, Artemis Health; Derek Newell, Jiff; and Zachary McGill, Perk Health. “We’re honored to be recognized as an innovator by The Action Group,” said Omada’s Regional Director Sandy Schenck. “Their organization and our company share the same vision for Minnesota—a healthier population, with less chronic disease and lower health care costs. We’re excited to work with any other organizations in Minnesota that want to give their employees or beneficiaries access to our a program.” According to Schenck, who participated in the Innovator’s Showcase and accepted the award on behalf of Omada, the company’s recently published results demonstrate that Prevent users reduce their risk for getting Type 2 diabetes or heart disease, and maintain those lifestyle changes even after completing the Omada program.
