CHECK-IN: No Later than 5:00 PM at Parade Booth on corner of Elm & Spring Streets. ASSEMBLY: 4:30-6:00 PM in the Meadows Staging Area – arrive early to avoid traffic delays. LINE UP, MAP & INSTRUCTIONS will be mailed upon approval of your application and after June 15 deadline. Lineup will be finalized at this time. ✰ START TIME: Immediately following the Montpelier Mile Road Race. ✰ ROUTE: From the Meadow to Spring Street, to the roundabout on Main Street; down Main to State Street; proceeding down State Street past the State House, ending at 133 State Street. Disembark at the parking area provided or return carefully to parking at Montpelier High School. Remember, when you leave the parade and turn onto Bailey Avenue, it is an open road way. ✰ PARKING: We recommend the Montpelier High School; park & car pool. Final Parade instructions may include additional parking alternatives. ✰ ✰ ✰ ✰ SUGGESTIONS: ✰ Bring a banner/sign/poster to show off who you are. ✰ Make your presentation memorable and interesting, but if you are planning a “surprise”, please let the parade coordinator know in advance, for logistical purposes! ✰ Line up early. Relax and prepare; meet and greet other paraders. If you have young children in your group, arrange to entertain them. REQUIREMENTS: Failure to follow any of the below requirements may result in exclusion from future parades or, in extreme circumstances, immediate expulsion from this year's parade. ✰ Only approved applicants may participate in the parade. ✰ Be ready to go at 6:00 pm sharp. ✰ Please keep the pace! NO physical stops along the Parade Route! ✰ Throwing items is not permitted for safety reasons. Candy, flags and approved items are acceptable as handouts. ✰ As always, Please, DON’T bring handouts that will become trash such as ANY sheets of paper, posters, booklets, flyers, handbills & ANY stickers. Paper handouts are not allowed in the parade as part of Montpelier Alive’s and the Central Vermont Solid Waste Management District’s campaign for a Zero Waste July 3 rd Festival. ✰ Trucks/floats/vehicles must have a minimum of 2 spotters on the ground for a car or pickup truck, and 4 spotters for a large truck, trailer or float. ✰ If you have animals, clean-up is your responsibility. Application for Parade: Friday, July 3, 2015 (page 2) INCLEMENT WEATHER: There is no "rain date" for the parade -- it will run rain or shine unless there is extreme weather such as lightening or strong winds. In instances of severe weather, parade officials will rely on the determination of law enforcement as to whether it is safe to run the parade. ✰ If rainy, bring umbrellas, towels, galoshes, tarps, garbage bags, large sheets of plastic, ponchos, dry clothes, a hot thermos – whatever makes sense for your group! ✰ If sunny, bring plenty of water, sun screen & hats!
